Davis is the kind of person who pops in and out of my life when I see him gatherings in between his trekking the globe (or living in a zen garden or doing whatever the hell else he desires). He marches to his own beat (or plays it on his drums) and I am happy to have him as my friend.

Whenever I think of the good times I spent working for DPW, my thoughts will inevitably drift to thinking about Davis. When he left the desert job after the 2004 event, it was the first time I thought about doing the same. I can't quite explain it, but we go back almost 6 years and it's rare to find a beacon of calm in the middle of the storm. Being a seeker of magical sanity, Davis really fit the description. I'll catch up with you again somewhere in the world, my friend.

Davis is living inspiration. He flies by the seat of his pants wherever the wind may take him. He can do anything. Anything!

For example: Live in the desert, miles from even a bare twig in the ground, erect from the dust an enormous structure (The Cafe, that thrilled and comforted tens of thousands of people) with only blood, sweat and tears to fuel him; Sail the Seven Seas and get paid to do so, coming home with pictures beyond my wildest dreams; Walk on stilts while banging a drum, all the while spewing GIGANTIC flame from a propane tank strapped upside down to his back (you know what that does to the flame...)

Oh Davis, I miss you and love you and can't wait till happen through these parts again!

Damn. Simply not enough words in all known languages to say how special, unique and amazing this sojourner is. I miss him every day.

Davis is one of the most shining of people who always shows me the way home. What is important. What is to be bettered. What is to dream of. What is to become reality.
