about me
So... I work in the mental health field, answering crisis calls from clients and their families. It gets pretty intense and scary sometimes, but I love what I do. It's a wonderful thing to be able to help a person find a little hope, and it's always amazing to me how much a humble attitude of compassion can help your fellow man so much.
However, even though I like my job, I'm pretty sick of corporate life. It really comes in such blatant contrast with my life philosophy on many levels. I hate feeling caged and trapped in someone else's trip, and the corporate thing, although it pays well , it does not, for example allow me to just get up and go to Thailand for a month if I feel like it, or if I'm just desperate for good coffee, stunning art and great food, I can't just pack up and visit my relatives in Tuscany. Besides, the scope of healing is rather limited for me at my current job. My internal sense of accomplishment and desire to grow feels kind of repressed. So I decided to switch careers and get into massage therapy. I like to travel, and drink hot beverages in rooftop cafes. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. I really like to study the art of different cultures. I like the secret freedom of late night conversations. I sometimes enjoy taking pictures with my ancient, non digital camera, and sleeping late.

So, tonight, just before I headed off to anatomy class, I dumped the guy I've been interested in for the last month or so. He just pissed me off and hurt my feelings. It takes a lot to make me angry to the point of completely excommunicating someone from my life, but once someone has lost my respect, I really don't have any interest in keeping them around anymore.

Such was the case with Glenn. I'm not really too bummed out about it, as I think he sort of acted like an ass. Long story, but ... read more
I hate Daylight Savings time. Does anyone not hate this time of year? In all my life I have never heard anyone say, "Wow! It's Daylight Savings time again! Yay!" Fuck. It seriously cuts into my hiking time in the afternoons, and by the time I'm finished doing whatever I have to do in a day, it's freaking dark already! Booo. I say we take a vote to end this dumb shit.

"Laska, a Steller sea lion at the Marinland Sea World Park in Antibes, France, enjoys daily swims, waddling on the beach in the rain and having raw fish flung at him. He's NOT into mind games or pushy aquatic mammals."

So I did some fantastic LSD on Thursday night with a wonderful guy that I've been sort of interested in for... gosh... it's been about a year now. I met him at work, (he's a therapist) and we really conencted. Both of us went through miserable, life-shattering breakups around the same time in our lives, so via email and chats, we sort of became a kind of support system for each other. Shortly ... read more
