Official Word from Tribe on the Down Time

   Sat, October 20, 2007 - 12:18 AM
"From October 17th until the evening of October 18th, tribe.net was unavailable due to problems with our MySQL database servers. For the most part the problems are resolved, but there will be more maintenance on the site over the weekend (Friday through Monday morning) during off-peak hours from midnight to 4am."

Hmmm..Tribe first put up that "Donut Freak Out" page on the 16th and was back up briefly the next day and then crashed again, rendering it unavailable until very early this morning. Tribe was effectively down three days. Looks like the powers that be have their days mixed up. *s* I'm also not impressed with the official statement. It'll be interesting to see what the official word is the next time this happens. Probably be in a week or two. I'm noticing the down times are becoming more and more frequent. And when they do occur, they seem to be lasting longer. It's like teamnoir says, that Tribe seems to have sys admins not paying as much attention and also aging servers that they're trying to keep running instead of replacing.

Time to go over to Facebook. Hiiiii Anathema! *g*

I have to admit, I'm getting kind of addicted to the immediacy of Facebook--there's a very generational thing with it . . . my younger friends, for whom it's second nature (it began as a college networking thing) change their status all the time ("Todd is looking out the window." "Todd is scratching his butt.") My older friends leave their status the same for days or weeks ("Todd is new to Facebook.") But it's fun, very functional and stable, and has lots of cute aspects. Haven't really delved into it yet, but I like what I see . . .hey kids come on over. The water's fine!

Hmmm. And, as one who is still digging into Facebook, how Does one connect up with those who are not in the same email domain? Or is the one method to form a group, and everyone comes looking?

I can't even get into Facebook to even see what it looks like. I'll be damned if I'll use my real name, and I can't figure out one to use that they'll accept, at least not that will identify me to any of my friends here.

Hmm, that's odd because I actually couldn't get on Tribe for 3 days, not 2.

I have not looked at Facebook at all. Since I'm on Tribe, Myspace, and Xanga... I don't think I need another addiction.
