about me
I'm either a Renaissance Woman or I have ADD - I've never been sure which! I'm interested in a lot of different things, but my newest love is belly dancing, since earlier this year.

I've lived in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill (Triangle) area of North Carolina since 1988, but don't claim a hometown - I grew up in a military family so am a bonafide "global nomad." I'm the mom of two great adult kids and was married to their dad for 25 years. Some things aren't meant to last forever & that ultimately ended in divorce, but, in July 2007 I married a wonderful guy & we're getting ready to celebrate our first anniversary soon! Speaking of anniversaries, we just helped my mom & dad celebrate their 50th in June 2008!

I'm a pagan, mostly Celtic shamanism, animal work, energy work, and always interested in learning new things.

When the kids were young, I did all the Mom stuff, but also the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) on and off for almost 30 years (currently off - don't have time!); ran a ferret rescue shelter for 5 years, and founded the Triangle Ferret Lovers club (haven't been doing that for awhile); costume design; sculpture; docent/museum guide at a historic site in Hillsborough; organic gardening & homesteading - complete with goats & chickens; taught some classes, worked with youth groups & womens' groups; finished the courses to be a life & business coach, but actually make my living as an eLearning consultant.

Right now I'm in the process of figuring out what I want to do with the rest of my life (or at least what adventures to have for the next few years), but no rush. I run about 6-10 miles a week (indoors, on a treadmill - bad knees, & I really don't like summer heat too much) & take dance classes 2-3 days a week. Not that I'm an exercise fanatic - far from it - but I like staying active!

Pigs in the Garden??? (blog entry) We sure have some interesting visitors, here on the outskirts of Carrboro! Deer, squirrels and birds are expected, as is an occasional raccoon, possum or fox, but PIGS? A couple weeks ago, this is the scene we saw from the back deck, with Rami-... read more

Introduction (blog entry) Since I'm new to tribe.net, I thought I'd say hi! So far, I like it a lot - more than Facebook, and certainly more than myspace, which seems to be mostly geared toward teenagers. O.k., I also have an account on linked in, but that's strictly for... read more

We sure have some interesting visitors, here on the outskirts of Carrboro! Deer, squirrels and birds are expected, as is an occasional raccoon, possum or fox, but PIGS? A couple weeks ago, this is the scene we saw from the back deck, with Rami-the-hero-dog bravely protecting us from the evil Pig-Invaders (actually I think she was wondering if pork chops on the hoof taste as good as pork chops from the store. . .)

So, of course I wrote a song. . .

The Piggy Song (sung to the tune of "... read more

O.k., I also have an account on linked in, but that's strictly for professional networking! I don't spend an inordinate amount of time on any of those sites - but at least I'm out there!

So, what can I say about me? If you read my profile, you know I make my living as a "contract" eLearning designer. I've been... read more
