<div>Ghosts

I hit L.A.
In the morning fog.
Beings splattered
Across my windshield
Dead things
I’ve had to stare at
For the last 400 miles.

Even in the dark
I’ve be ashamed

Like a speed bump
Guilt, guilt, guilt
Trips me up,
Makes me restless
Leaving a muted hole
Filling with faces,
Smiles, and softness.

There are those
Who are afraid to love
And others afraid
Not to.
They both cherish the rain
In quite opposite ways

We all loose
Bits of ourselves,
In far away places
landscapes even we’ve
Forgotten
Though the search continues
For what was lost

Maybe L.A.
Wasn’t the best place
To drink myself dead.
But it’s a start.
And all the ghosts here
Still hide
In daylight.

 <div>
Warning for all:
Constantly check your banking accounts, especially if it can be accessed online!

Last Friday night at 10:00 pm, someone hacked my banking records and cleared out my accounts. Not only did they empty them, but also took more than was in it at the time. After hours on the phone Saturday, the Fraud had connections in Canada and Madrid.
Bottom line is my bank will credit my account sometime in the near future, while the investigations continue. Meanwhile I shall have to live off credit cards for a few more days, which I hate doing. Plus I’ll need to change all my E-Billing and E-Pay with new numbers. Very time consuming.
I do check my account online at least 3 or 4 times a week, and caught it only hours after the fact, though nothing could be done until it actually posted.

Just wanted to warn my friends to keep an eye on their records, especially if they travel Internationally. May start a another account at a different bank too, just in case.

<div>LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Pro-immigration activists say a national boycott and marches planned for May 1 will flood America's streets with millions of Latinos to demand amnesty for illegal immigrants and shake the ground under Congress as it debates reform.
In Chicago, Catholic priests have helped organize protests, sending information to all 375 parishes in the archdiocese.

OK…let’s see. More immigrants, who are mostly Catholic, for amnesty.
Out of the kindness of their hearts?
Or more Catholic legal residents equals more money for the Vatican?

They would do better by offering more help to the African nations now under genocide, or helping the women in Islamic countries gain their freedom.
So many ways to help people, but then there really isn’t much money to be had in the above examples.
It appears God has a cash flow problem, if you listen to them.

I started asking a question around the office last week to some of our “electronics gurus”. I was really surprised at the lack of answers from these folks, and it began to get kind fun after a while…

Having digital cable television, and a DVD recorder, is it possible to record a digital music station from a cable channel?
 If it is, should I use a DVD/R or a CD/R?

I still can’t get an answer to that. One did explain to me the theory of changing digital video into digital audio.
It sounded too much like accelerating nano particles…Maybe I’ll just give it a try this weekend, and then try to explain my results to them.
Hope I don’t fall into a black hole or something.

<div>
Here it is Friday night, I’m having dinner with a beautiful friend, much younger than myself, and did I mention very beautiful? Our plans were to hit a small Irish pub, and greet my friends and family who tend to come together there on weekends, and then off to another small club.
We had a wonderful dinner, (Italian) and drove to the pub. We walked in and located the tables with friends and family, sat down and ordered drinks. The poor girl knew no one, but all were very friendly to her and made her feel at home. So far a good night.
Another friend wanders over to our table, somewhat drunk, and commences to hit on my friend. Not a big deal, she runs into that problem quite often, and I figure he will take the hint and back off.
After about 20 minutes of his whispering, touching, and generally making an ass of himself, I finally stepped in. Although his friends tried to move him away, this guy wasn’t going anywhere. So like some kind of Neanderthal, I get in this guy’s face and start yelling. Pushed him as far as I could, but I could not get a response out of him…he just kept looking down on the floor.
We said our good-bys to all and left for the next stop.
But the night was ruined, and I was left trying to figure out a better way I could have handled this matter.
I realized that the problem may have been that she was very beautiful, and probably 20 years my junior. I really should have expected trouble with those figures. Older women have learned ways to get out of those situations themselves, and thus eliminate the need for confrontation. I believe that she may have enjoyed the attention at the beginning, but soon grew very uncomfortable with it after a while.
Anyway, being a Buddhist, but not a very good one, I still feel that I did a lousy job handling the situation. I really thought that I was over that entire jealousy thing, but I guess one never defeats the genes one was born with.

<div>How much effort does it take for one to offer a simple, quick, Good Morning, Good Night, Have A Nice day? Please…somebody fill me in here! Is it some type of energy conservation, or maybe a hording away of vowels?
I realize that we are all in a big rush to go to that next destination, or buy that next shiny new thing, but come on folks! It’s just 2 freaken words – three or four at the most.
A good friend left the office early, and even thou we’ve grown somewhat close over the past months, not a word was uttered. Nothing.
We assume that our friends, or whatever will always be around for us later on. Pay attention! WE DIE, WE LEAVE, WE FIND OTHERS, OR WE MAY JUST DISAPPEAR OFF THE FACE OF THIS DAMN EARTH!!
My ex wife once told me that my expectations of others were way too high. I should just expect the worst from people, and then if by some miracle, they act otherwise, than I can be pleasantly surprised.
It kind of made sense, but that is not I. I do not have it in me to think that people will not do the proper thing – at least the majority of peaceful people.
Why do I blast this out of proportion? Because I’m pissed, and this is my blog, and I am hurt. (And soon I shall be drunk!)
I understand that this may sound petty and foolish to many. But remember!
NO ONE PROMISED YOU A TOMORROW!!!

You were too damn busy
Fighting your life

Somewhere
Left upon a ledge
3 inches
cold, dry earth

your hand
appeared
5 fingers of pain
then disappeared

I became so hungry,
I feasted upon
The bones
Of strangers

And learned
Ancient songs
Hidden within their
Arthritic joints

Your mother lying
Saying, official like
You could become
Anything you wanted

You can’t

Your blood is thin
Your heart, small
Your flesh and thoughts
Transparent.

Your eyes
Are orphaned
From all thoughts
From all joy

decisions

<div>Are our personal decisions actually ours, or have they been preordained
from
the very beginning of life?
I can remember a famous study in Quantum Physics when a laser beam,
aimed
at a small hole in a wall, will not always result in a uniform pattern.
It
was as if the decision to go one way or the other had been decided
before
the actual action. Not exactly random, but then again, not exactly
well
defined. The experimenters had no control of where the laser landed,
or
which direction they would go. We are talking about mm here, and not
feet,
or yards. This is also in regards to a parallel universe which I can
not
get into right now.
Please correct me if anyone else is familiar with this study, it has
been
a few years for me.
We are not just an organism bumping around randomly, but then again,
we do
not have the control one would think.
Consider just the very basic everyday random acts we may
encounter...parking places, slot machines, pinball machines, wrong
numbers,
or even whom we caught that last cold virus from.
Even more interesting would be to consider our dating and voting
choices.

<div>The seal hunt got under way in eastern Canada amid a loud outcry from animal rights groups who decry the traditional hunt as unforgivably cruel.
Canada has authorized the killing of 325,000 seals for this year. It believes the species is in no danger, as Greenland's seal population has almost tripled in 30 years to hit 5.8 million.
The hunt is carried out on ice in the Gulf of St Lawrence; it began around the Iles-de-la-Madeleine archipelago in Quebec, where some 91,000 seals were to be clubbed to death in the coming days.
Please forgive me…I have forgotten the name of this manly sport. Let’s see, humm, you take a drunk idiot, give him a club, set him down in the middle of 300,000 baby seals, and then they commence to beating the shit out of them.
Then what? Do they all get drunker and share their battle skills? Tie them on their front bumpers for the ride home. Will their wives run towards them with open arms, relived that their husbands have not been eaten by baby seals? Does a child clubber remember his first massacre?
DAMN…these Canadians are fun or what?
Wow!!! Will this ever be televised for the rest of us SPORTS fans to enjoy? I’m thinking the maker of baseball bats could even sponsor the whole thing, and have their logo on the back of the clubbers.
Their reward for all this? WHEN THEY GET TO HEAVEN, THEY SHALL HAVE 73 VIRGIN SEALS.
We’re all fucked, and most don’t even know it.

DOES NOT REFLECT UPON OF ALL CANADIANS

A life-size sculpture of a naked Britney Spears kneeling.

You know…I would love having this displayed in my home. Not that I am a big fan of Britney, but I believe it would be the first useful piece of furniture I’ve ever bought. (Not counting the corkscrew, or that blue thingy on my end table).
I shall search around within my humble walls to find the perfect place for it, just in case.
The big question is which way to have it face.

No…really, I love this piece, as it shows a woman’s full natural beauty, and lovely curves.

<div>Fear never wears the same face. What I was afraid of yesterday, becomes rather comical today?
I can remember backpacking a few years ago alone, right after one of our famous hurricanes. Normally, I would be weary of gators, an ill black bear, or perhaps a nasty little snake. Being alone, without my cell phone, 16 to 20 miles from god knows where, made me cautious. I guess the whole thing about dying and being eaten in woods, with maybe just my boot to be found 30 years later. Creepy.
The deeper I got, the more down trees I saw. It was still quite windy, and after arriving in a certain section, I could hear large tree limbs crashing down around me. Trees that had been damaged from the storm. Must have been part of the main path of the storm.
I found myself climbing over large trees blocking the path, and still hearing the crashing sounds around me.
I freaked…I felt that I had to leave that place immediately. I turned around, and headed back the way I came, and started feeling a bit easier after a half-mile or so.
But from then on, I had to live with the knowledge, that trees once scared the shit out of me.
Now, a small smile appears upon my face, when ever I see wooden furniture, or even a pile of sawdust.
 Don’t even mention a fireplace.

<div>I just fixed a cup of espresso, so I believe I am ready to go. My cat, Sneakers ,just jumped off my lap...that does not happen very often. God only knows what she's doing now, but I'm sure I'll find out sometime in the future.
Being recently divorced after 26 years of marriage, one starts to notice all the little things in life that one misses. The quiet, the space...Am I becomming selfish? Or is it that some people were just meant to be alone? There are times when I crave another human touch, then come the times I want to be isolated.
Maybe I drink too much, but I do love watching the little green and red olives roll around the bottom of my martinni glass, as though they have a life of their own.
When I drink too much, they appear as small red eyes glaring at me. Almost like they demand to be eaten. What the hell are they thinking?? Then again, I suppose olives do not have much of a life either.

<div>OK…So I’ve been putting off watching this movie for the last 8 months. I felt like I had to wait for all the hype to die down, and I would eventually forget about it. But last Saturday night, not having any plans, I made a strong ass martini, and put the movie on -.”LOST IN TRANSLATION”.
Needless to say that every now and then, one runs across a movie that is almost like reading your journal, and you become somewhat distraught. You’re sitting there going “yea, oh yea”. Until the ending. It’s not right.
Would things be different now, if your ending came out the same way as the movie?
 Who screwed up?
I was happy with my ending, but eventually found myself looking over my shoulder for the next several weeks.
Perhaps they got it right after all.
All the same, if you haven’t seen the movie, try and catch it. It is a good movie, and easy to become “lost” in.
