anyone familiar with Gram Parsons?

   Fri, March 8, 2013 - 4:44 AM
It drives me insane to hear a song only once and never find it again. This time it's a Gram Parsons/Emmylou Harris duet that I could've swore the deejay called "The Turn" except Google and YouTube searches can't find it. I heard it on the way to work and couldn't reach for my cell to ID it. I emailed the deejay, who hosts a radio show specializing in obscure rock of all eras, and haven't heard back. It's been a while now so I don't think I will. Apparently I hallucinated the song.

no, but do you remember some words in the lyrics?
they did work together for a couple of years until his death, but he was not really honored because of drug problem...

The lyrics are starting to fade. It was a sort of breakup song and they sang about some places they had visited.... not very helpful but I only heard it once and am forgetting! I was already familiar with his Emmylou duets somewhat, this was one I hadn't heard before.

Gaaaaah......

it is maddening not to know and yet be haunted by the melody.....

but that nymber...
WOW! so pretty, so untouched or produced sounding, just simple with rawness.
Before he messed with his voice and his obsession for self destruction...

Thanks for sharing, E.S.S. I've always liked that one too. It really is sad to hear; what a waste of talent. He only missed the 27 club by two months. :(

"Return Of The Grevious Angel"

The deejay must have simply identified it as "Return' which I then heard as "The Turn" LOL.
I'm actually surprised I haven't heard this song looong before now. It's from the Grevious Angel album, his last, and the album that has the song E.S.S. linked and "Love Hurts" which is probably the most recognized Gram/Emmylou duet. "Return" is the very first song off that album; how the hell did I never hear it?!?!?!?!

Thanks to you both, Adrian and E.S.S for all the help! I can relax now lol! *deep sigh, mops sweat off brow*

Just listen to the difference in his voice on "November Nights", very clear and sweet, and how rough and haggard he sounds on "Return". The difference is heartbreaking.

Thanks again for the help, y'all the best!!! :)

Graham Parsons was such a marvelous musician and artist and such a troubled and tragic soul. I think much of it is there in his wonderful music.
