Rumi, a scholar turned mystic, turned dancing dervish, whose poetry takes us step by step to meet God within ourselves is our inspiration for this retreat. Ecstatic dance is the oldest spiritual practice on earth. The practices of Native American Shamanism combine ritual, trance & dance in a communal ceremony that liberates the dancers' inner light. This group begins with dinner on Sunday, 9/28, and ends with morning class on Saturday, 10/3; check out, 10/4. Tonight I get the pleasure of accompaning the amazing prayformance artist Thoth. For the first time, and this is just the beggining of our collaboration, I will be dancing the part of AMI-DOR, an underwater cellmaid, who ventures with thoth through his transformation. Tonight COSM will be screening the Oscar winning documentary about his life and he will be performing from his one-man opera. Thoth is completely unique and an extraordinary talent. Alex Grey calls him the "Nature Spirit of New York," because he has performed for the past five years in Central Park to amazed audiences.
