When you visit with dear Steph, it's like going for a long walk in a familiar wood. Sometimes Steph is your niece, sometimes she's your sister, sometimes she's your aunt, sometimes she's your grandma, and sometimes she's the crazy lady up the street who stops playing thunderously on her piano just long enough to spray you with the hose from her front porch, just 'cause.

So my Great-Aunt lost her grip a little and spent the last ten years mail order catalog shopping for a hobby. Her house reached an average depth of about five feet, mostly your standard awful old lady pants and very strange coats, but she must have about 200, yes two HUNDRED pairs of shoes. I pretty much just want to start smacking people, starting with my father, and ending with the vice presidential republican candidate.
I go back to work tomorrow. Everyone cross your fingers that I don't completely come unglued. If I start crying and leaking milk all over the college, some poor undergrads are going to learn more about adulthood than they wanted. I also have a new choir director boss and I'd like to have her think that I'm mostly sane for a while longer. I'll see if I can make that my goal for the day.

it seems like everyone I know is packing up to go to burning man without me. Well, that's not true ezackly, but that's what it feels like. Next week this town will be damn near deserted...just me, Anthea, and all the other nursing mommies will be left behind!

Party it up on my behalf, all you BRC inhabitants, I'll get out there again someday. Maybe.
I had a very positive experience this week I'd like to share. I had to take my friend to surgery to get a sewing machine needle chunk removed from her fingertip (totally ewww) and she needed a driver and general babysitter because Valium tends to make you loopy.
