Today I realized that meditation can enhance your ability to be the observer of your mind. When you can do that, you can actually change your neuropathways to change a negative or undesirable thought loop. Wow!

I recently started a daily meditation practice. So far I'm only doing it once a day. My practice is based on the methods presented by transcendental meditation, but I have not been initiated into that form. I use my own mantra. Following are some of the messages I've received during my meditations over the last few weeks. Hold on to your seat!

When we eat junk food (or bad food) we get depressed or ill. When we get depressed we go on Prozac or Paxil, etc. When we become chronically ill they also put us on powerful drugs. These drugs dull our mind so we cannot see our true reality. We become seperate from our true self and we remain enslaved in the system. Then we never question the system and never learn the truth.

The ancient yogis did not suffer from stress (this I was told at a TM talk). I have complained that I find it hard to make the time to meditate. The ancient yogis laugh at this. They say that we are conditioned to be in a constant state of motion. As westerners we believe that we must always be doing something. Even if it's watching TV or playing around on the net or socializing or whatever. We are in such a state of motion that even when we become still we have a very difficult time quieting... read more
