about me
I am freelance dance teacher, born and brought up in Africa. I teach all ages in a holistic way in order to capture the experience of the dance culture. From a story, I create dance, songs, drama, and costume in collaboration with all participants, ending in a performance or just for the experience and fitness benefits of dance. I love all forms of dance, especially African, Belly, Latin, and Brazilian. I choreograph dance for two samba bands in Devon, and also link up with African drummers to produce dance for performance. I am developing a dance company and we already perform samba and African dance at carnivals, festivals, corporate and private events.
I also love traveling in comfort if possible but enjoy camping in unusual and beautiful places where I can swim, jogg, and walk in the sun, and also emerse myself in learning and watching the dances of the country I am visiting. I love attending workshops in belly, samba, Afro Brazilian and African dance. I absolutely love the and am very inspired by costumes worn in these cultures and enjoy creating, and love attending haflas. I am married, and we have two beautiful boys aged 10 and 13. I am enjoying watching them grow and change. We live in Hartland and love this rugged coast, where I often swim in the sea while my boys are surfing, especially in spring autumn and summer, but also whenever the sea is inviting enough during the winter. One thing I enjoyed this autmn was looking for mushrooms in the nearby forests where it is completely quiet and magical, and coming home with chantrelles for breakfast. Totally therapeutic! I have my mother and brothers in Africa and I miss them dreadfully. It is wonderful when I visit them to replenish my soul with the warmth laughter love music, dance, sunshine and landscaspes of Africa.
