RIP to Gary Gygax, creater of D&D
So to all you geeks out there this has been a very sad week as it marked the passing of Gary Gygax, one of the creators of Dungeons and Dragons. On Tuesday, Gary passed away at the age of 69 and passed into the Halls of the Gods for players of D&D and other fantasy based games worldwide. The influence he has had in the last 35 or so years is immense and many people probably do not realize that many of the modern video games that they play were created as a response to D&D which made fantasy a more common commodity. I know that many of us here on Tribe play D&D or other fantasy based games so I hope that next time you sit down to play Magic, or Legend of Zelda, or Final Fantasy, an online fantasy based roleplaying game like Everquest or WOW, or maybe an old fashioned pencil and live dice game of D&D you think fondly of Gary who had a vision and shared it with us all.Blessed be Gary,
Happy Solstice, Merry Christmas or whatever Holiday you chose to celebrate
Well, it is amazingly beautiful here in Denver CO as the snow falls on a lovely Christmas morning. I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to all of my wonderful Tribe Friends from around the world. I feel truely blessed to be a part of the community of Dance that unites so many of us from different places and different backgrounds. It is an interesting journey that has made such a difference in my life. So, regardless of what Holiday you may celebrate at this time of year, or if you only stop to listen to the Earth and feel the pulse of Nature around you, please enjoy yourself, your family and your friends.May each of you be surrounded by love, kindness, health and happiness in the coming year.
For Sale to friends first
Hello everyone. It saddens me to say it, but I have to offer up a pair of XL Black Velvet Melodias for sale. I really love these but they are just to long for me. They are in good shape, just handwashed and air dried, with some minor wear to the bottom edges because, well, they're to long for me. I am asking $70.00 plus $5 for shipping priority with delivery confirmation. If you are interested let me know and I will let you know what my email is for paypal, or I will be happy to take a money order as well.Exciting Announcement!
I don't blog that often, because I usually don't think I have much that is vitally important for everybody, but this time I do. My dear hubby has just published his first book, The Goddess' Son. This book is a very interesting look at a man who wakes up with no idea of who or where he is. The story that follows is engrossing and moved me to tears (which is no mean feat). If you are interested in learning more, or even purchasing a copy this link should take you to the lulu storefront.www.lulu.com/content/1379471
If for some reason that doesn't work, try www.lulu.com and search for The Goddess' Son by Skott Holck.

Saving tribe.net
reposted...The word in some of the admin tribes is that Tribe.net is in serious financial peril. Peril that may make this site go away. Most of us belong to MySpace and/or Bebo and/or Facebook, yet we return to Tribe because it is what serves us best. There are even rumors that Tribe is down to less than five employees.
Given the above, would you be willing to pay a $5/mo subscription fee to tribe as a Premium Member? Not pay $5 just to USE tribe, but to have perks. Premium Members might receive benefits such as ad-free usage, more customizable skins, or other such bells and whistles. Please, if you support tribe and are willing to pay HALF THE COST OF A MOVIE TICKET for one month of Premium Usage, respond to this blog post. Repost this in YOUR BLOG. Collect the yays and nays and forward them to Pi (people.tribe.net/pi). After ten days I will summarize the results and forward them to the Admins.
Or maybe an option
$60.00 a year for the "perks"
$$25.00 for regular
Please Support Tribe
I got this from Chuck's blog and I want you all to know that I think tribe is worth paying for. I believe that what is suggested here is a reasonable amount and doable for many of us. Let's let the powers that be know how much we love tribe and want it to stay around.

2nd Annual Rocky Mountain Tribal Soiree, yippee!
I am so very excited to attend this event on Saturday. Last year we had such a good time and I got to meet many dancers from around the Rocky Mountain region. I think this year will be bigger and better, plus I get to perform, yeah! I am dancing with TribalTique's Denver student troupe and we are performing right before the intermission. We have been working very hard and it has been a great experience working with such a wonderful group of ladies and the best teacher ever Molly! So if you can please come and see all the beautiful dancers, shop and reconnect with friends from all over.cleaning house...
So today I realized that I was a member of to many tribes. I know that this is something many of us deal with all the time, but I have a hard time being in more tribes then I can reasonably participate in. It makes me feel bad knowing that someone usually took the trouble to invite me to their tribe, but if I am just a lurker, what good am I really? So, if I dropped a tribe that you invited me too, know that it is nothing personal, I just want to keep in managible. My Hubby is the bestest!
My wonderful hubby went out of his way to get me the best birthday present ever, the Robert Plant cd box set. It is all of Robert's solo projects including a dvd with a new interview and 20 music videos. I have been drooling over it ever since it came out and now it's mine, yeah!Well, I made it through
my first student performance. What a totally fun experience! For the past 2 months we have been working on our first student performance for me (some of the other girls in class performed at the Tribal Soiree and some dance fairly regularly in a troupe) and 2 of the other girls in class. So we have been sewing and practicing for awhile now. All the ladies were wonderfully helpful, giving tips on cueing the moves, things that worked well or not so much etc. All in all, the entire process was so positive and fun that I am rather looking forward to the next chance to perform. So, the actual performance was last night. There were 3 student troups and two professional troupes, plus live music by Kara Nomadica who are fantastic. Our group went on second and I really think we did great. We smiled and just had a great time. I remember looking out in the audience and seeing my brother in law right there, front and center, with the rest of the family spread around him. It was so cool! I could hear the zagareets and oompa's from around the room and I swear I could hear Molly saying "keep those elbows up, smile, you're doing great!" like she was standing next to us. I think we made Molly proud and I think we are all proud of each other. As a group we worked together and did a fantastic job!
