I am looking for quotes about what you enjoyed about the workshops, what you learned, how you felt about them overall...that kind of thing...to help promote them on my website. Only your first name/dance name &amp; city will be used -- no personal information tied to it. If you have something to say about the workshops, I'd love to hear it! Thanks!! :)</div>

I am so f*cking frustrated with We3 I could throttle someone!!!

<div>As some of you may or may not know, Xira &amp; I ordered some custom-made We3 items. When I placed my order, the listing said it would take UP TO 8 weeks for delivery. I am now sitting at FOURTEEN WEEKS since I placed my order &amp; I *still* don't have it yet. What's worse is that this ENTIRE time, not ONCE has the vendor contacted me first to let me know about late shipments, etc. Each time, the promised ship date has come &amp; gone and I have heard NOTHING from them, and have had to contact them inquiring about its status:

Thu 4/23: Ordered &amp; paid for item; says it will take "UP TO 8 weeks to ship"

Tues 6/16: I contact seller via eBay message; item should ship within the next 2 days (by 6/18) at the latest according to the listing, but I have not heard anything from the seller since I made the purchase -- NO ANSWER

Thu 6/18: sent another eBay message -- NO ANSWER

Mon 6/22: request seller's outside contact information from eBay &amp; get seller's email address

Mon 6/22: email seller about item's status; she replies that it should be shipped *to her* "next week"

Mon 7/6: I email seller AGAIN, as her promised date comes &amp; goes and I have NO communication from her; she says it is supposed to arrive that week

Tue 7/14: I email seller AGAIN, as her promised date comes &amp; goes and I have NO communication from her; she says she just received a shipment that morning &amp; is expecting another one the week AFTER next; mine is not in that morning's shipment

Wed 7/15: Xira receives notice that her order is being shipped (she ordered hers a week after mine); she tells Xira hers was late b/c it wasn't metallic embroidery (mine IS metallic embroidery)

Mon 7/27: I email seller AGAIN, as her promised date comes &amp; goes and I have NO communication from her

Thu 7/30: I email seller AGAIN, as I have YET to get a response from the email I sent on Monday.........

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And to make matters WORSE??? It's past 60 days, so I can't leave any feedback on eBay &amp; I can't get a chargeback from Paypal!!!! I am SO tired of dealing with these people!!! How can you run a business like this???????????</div>

A question about sizes

<div>For those of you who don't know, Theresi P is a vendor here on Tribe, based out of San Fransisco, who recently had to close her physical shop due to medical (&amp; therefore financial) issues. She is a single mom who is having to liquidate most of her inventory at below cost, simply to try to get some cash flow, any cash flow, going again. For the whole story, you can go here: http://tribes.tribe.net/monsoonvarsha/thread/c44d1698-6538-4c97-9aa1-1b0a07a7964a

Here's where I come in... A few weeks ago, I purchased a child-sized embroidered choli from her so that I could cover an emBELLIshment Bra Base with it &amp; sell it. Then I found out what has gone on in her life the past several months, and I figure that I could do something else instead. I am going to cover a bra with it still, but then I was thinking I could auction it off on eBay &amp; give all of the proceeds to Theresi to help her out. I figure, she could use the money &amp; I can spare it, so why not?

My question to all of you is -- what size should I make the bra? That's the only hitch -- should I do a "custom order" &amp; the winner can pick their size (which means there would be no pictures, obviously, of a final product for the auction...only pics of the fabric &amp; examples of the bra bases). Or do I go ahead &amp; just pick a size (like 40D -- which then meas that anyone in the range of 38D-DD, 40C-D &amp; 42B-C could wear it -- but that obviously then limits my bidding base)?

What do you think?</div>

Houses

<a href="http://people.tribe.net/524bcd6f-66c8-4f9e-bb13-690368bc49b6/blog/dd947f10-b5ea-4a3d-868f-d4905b82afec">  						          <img class=" picThumb" src="http://images.tribe.net/tribe/upload/photo/cfe/cd8/cfecd80b-b7d4-436f-bf3d-bb09ffd1e483.thumb" width="65" height="48" alt="" />
    </a>
										<div>An unnerving list of humble abodes, starting with the first one that I remember:

1) My grandparent's house with my mom. It took a little while before my dad, my mom &amp; I all lived in the same house. For the first few years, it was just me and my grandpa and his cherry-almond ice cream from Zarda Dairy. I blame him for the ice cream weakness.

2) My dad's childhood house on Knox Avenue with my Aunt Annie &amp; her husband. Never felt safe or comfortable there, though I couldn't tell you why at the time. Now I know why---it was the house my grandmother had died in (to this day, it can't keep an owner for more than two years). I learned to walk there by holding onto the tails of two very loving and patient labrador retrievers.

3) A lovely, circular-ish house in Olathe, KS across from my first grade school and down the street from a Dairy Queen. Hail the size of golf balls ruined my dad's SS Chevelle there. Our kitchen caught on fire (a grease fire), and my Aunt Marlene tried to put it out with water -- scarring both her &amp; my mom. I almost broke off a finger in my tether ball string, and developed the scar on my forehead by diving head first into the corner of our coffee table. The highlight, though, was when I came running home screaming &amp; crying at the top of my lungs from my friend Jenny's house because her mom had tried to make me eat a sandwich made on brown bread. Ah, the things that scar us.

4) The new tract-house in West Plano, TX with my uncle Greg, his wife &amp; their 2 kids in a 4-bedroom house, and believe it or not, we thought we were stylin. My first kiss was with Ryan (the boy next door) on a dare in my bedroom. I stepped on a nail that went through my entire foot. My sister ate all of the strawberries out of our neighbor's garden and threw up for days. It was the first time I became aware of drugs, what they were, and my parents' involvement in them. 1st grade---it's amazing what kids know, despite what their parents think. Welcome to Texas.

4b?) **One I don't know what order it goes in** The house I lived in with my sister, mom &amp; dad (can't remember if my brother was born yet or not, hence part of the timeline issue) that the house behind us caught fire one night &amp; my dad spent all night outside hosing down our roof &amp; yard. It was also the house that I melted all of the hair on the back of my head together (from standing too close to the upright heater in our bathroom). That's a smell I'll never get out of my head.

5) A non-descript apartment in Melissa, TX where my little brother was born. Dee laid out every toy she had around a blanket in the middle of my parents' bed the day they brought Eric home. She wanted to start playing with her new little brother as soon as possible. She was sorely disapointed to find out that all he wanted to do was sleep. To my parents' credit, it was one of the few apartments that we lived in.

6) The big, sprawling house in Princeton, TX where my dog Buzz found us. Learned that 'Bloody Mary' is nothing to be fooled around with. Crashed a mini motorbike and received a scar on my inner right leg that only I can see now from the muffler. Lost my fingernail when I slammed it in a door. Had more fun on my friend Rhonda's farm than I had in my entire childhood. Developed my first crush on her older brother...he loved Quiet Riot, we loved 'Footloose'.

7) The house on the creek in East Plano, TX. My sister &amp; I became gravely ill after eating too many honeysuckles. We also get poison ivy for the first time. Smokey (my cat) was born there...she was the only one that lived from the litter. Butterball died there. My parents are asked if they want to skip me ahead 2 grades, they say no, much to their credit. A week before we move to Florida, our entire house is robbed, even the trash. Everything from photos to my Girl Scout badges is gone--all because of a drug deal gone bad. The only thing left is the clothes we had with us on vacation and my mother's wedding dress...symbolism much?

8) A few months in a Winnebago on a camp site. Gotta love hiking to the showers every day. My dad pawned my stereo with my favorite tape in it without asking me. I discovered the difference between bananas and plantains the hard way. Welcome to the Florida Keys.

9) The green house on Lookout Trail. It had wood paneling half-way up the walls, signifying where the water damage from Hurricane Donna had been 30 years earlier. The best lemonade stand ever. Beating the crap out of 4 people for my siblings, including my cousin. Swimming in the ocean at the end of the street. Scrounging money from the couch for Frosty's &amp; biggie fries. Getting stabbed by my brother with a pencil. Learning to shave my legs. It was literally the best of times and the worst of times.

10) My Aunt Annie's double-wide for a summer. My mom got sun poisoning and my brother got road rash from her Basset Hound, Barthalomew.

11) The duplex across from the warehouse. I discovered Beastie Boys and my grandmother's ghost. I also realized that my dad had a childhood on par with mine, and that try as he might, he couldn't escape it. That's the moment that changed everything for me. In fourth grade. No joke.

12) The silver-bullet style trailer behind one of my dad's friend's trailers. No running water. No electricity. No gas. For 9 months. The closest we ever got to being homeless. I still love the nursery that was down the street. I think that's where my love of koi started.

13) The house behind the car garage in the Florida Keys. My mother lost her hearing in her right ear in that house. It was the first time I feared for my life.

14) With my grandparents for a little over 3 months. Just us kids. Because we told our parents that we wouldn't live with them until they cleaned up. They followed a few months later, clean for the first time since high school. It wouldn't last forever. Welcome (back) to Kansas.

15) The oddly laid-out house behind the golf course. What a loooong ass walk to &amp; from school every day. We were 5 blocks away from qualifying for the school bus pick-up. The van was "stolen" there. Can you say, mail fraud? No, but I can say Felony.

16) The house on Floyd. A charming little house on a busy street corner. My pictures of Corey Haim on the wall. Dee's pictures of Kirk Cameron, with her 'flower' bangs. Dreamt of making the garage into my own little apartment.

17) The hovel on Dover. A hovel with marigolds lining the walk that we planted at 2am so that my mom would feel at home. A small 2 bedroom in the ghetto of KC. Turned Sweet 16 there----now that was an awesome party.

18) Perry Lane. The split-level house that my parents tried to buy. It was the longest I'd ever lived in one place in my life (2 years), and some of my best memories are still there. We were almost a normal family there. Almost. The ice cream man told on us for having a party &amp; Amber talked to me while she slept. The thing I remember most about that house was leaving it. Ironic, no?

19) Freshman-year college dorms. Simultaniously living with one person &amp; 50 other girls. All of them smart. Some of them beautiful. Most of them fabulous. Met most of my best friends on that short stretch of industrial-carpet-hallway at 2am studying for Chemistry exams. Welcome to California.

20) Living with Lex the first time. And Lisa. And Jenny---the second time and last time. Saw the OJ verdict in this aparment. Also realized for the first time that not everyone had similar living styles (cleaning, food, etc). Believe it or not, this was a shock to me.

21) 3 months of living in the apartment I would live in with Steph, Kirsten &amp; Amy, but with 2 perfect strangers. Don't remember much about them. They shared a room, I had my own. It was a weird thing not to go home that summer -- it was the summer I was no longer a kid.

22) A very crowded apartment with Steph, Kirsten &amp; Amy: where I almost kill Stephanie (over a lamp, poor thing) &amp; realize that I should not share a room with someone ever again. Kirsten offering her blood to the PR/Jounalism/English Major gods. LOTS of good food in that aparment. I still miss Steph's shrimp tacos.

23) 2 straining months at my cousin's Mark's house, bless his heart. He did have some great ties by the end of it, though. And I got to meet Dwight Yokum (his neighbor). Very short, very bald man.

24) Me &amp; Lex in the apartment where we never saw each other (pt 1). Trying to keep people from jumping off our balcony into the pool (3 stories below) because the gate was locked from the outside. Waking up to fresh cookies because Lex had made them while I slept.

25) 3 months in a house with 9 other people...ALL ballroom dancers. Can't get much more fun than that. Dropped like 3 dress sizes that summer - I was dancing so much! Got my bed that summer. I love my bed. :D

26) 9 months of hell with strangers in a La Jolla condominium (note to self: don't do that again...any of it). Couldn't get out of there fast enough. They weren't sad to see me go either.

28) Living with Sam. ::ouch:: That's all I can say...

29) My first apartment by myself...sort of...well, there was Matthew, but he was more of a pet than a roommate. Those first few weeks alone were the worst in my life. The rest were pretty darn awesome. Thank you, Matthew. :)

30) Casa de Lex (pt 2). Loved that house. Still want to own one just like it. For now, I will live vicariously through Amanda's house restoration projects. :D

31) One-bedroom apartment in Glendale, CA. It was right around the corner from a bread factory, and every evening on the drive home I would crave toast. Although I really loved that apartment, that was where I realized that I didn't want to live in LA anymore. When it's time to go, it's time to go.

32) A few months with Dee, Billy &amp; newborn baby Jenna - bless them. Welcome (back) to Kansas/Missouri.

33) The house in Waldo with Eric &amp; Chloe. LOVED living there. Loved everything about it - the house, the nieghborhood, my roomies. :) But, alas, Eric met Meghan &amp; it would just be awkward if I still lived with them.

34) Generic OP apartment across the hall from my mom, kinda 'Friends'-style. Right behind a Chinese food place that had amazing Crab Rangoon -- not good for my waistline. LOL Unfortunately, it was a LOT of money for a very LITTLE apartment. Big closet &amp; your own washer/dryer, though - it was weird.

35) Living with Tom. Bad decision all the way around. Live &amp; learn, right?

36) Pretty cool 3rd-story apartment in KCMO. I used to sit on the balcony &amp; watch the storms roll in across the area. Unfortunately, my car was broken into in the "secure" garage (that I paid an extra $40/month to park in) the last week that I lived there - kinda soured my thoughts of that place.

37) A few months in Jemira &amp; Hassan's basement.

38) Living with Mom at the moment...going pretty well, but can't wait to have my own place again. Hopefully one that I own (&amp; can stay in for a looooong while).

Nomad? Gypsy?? Me??? Never... HOW MANY HOUSES HAVE YOU LIVED IN?</div>

										<div>It's been almost 5 years now...so I think I can officially say that I am no longer a baby belly dancer. :) So, in that stead, I need to upgrade to some more "grown up" belly dance items, like proper dance shoes &amp; non-student size zils. And I need to get my own sword. So, what are your recommendations for:

* Dance Shoes (they could be the ballroom kind, or the jazz kind - still not decided on what I want)
* Intermediate Zils
* Balancing Sword

Suggestions? Ones to avoid? Advice on how to buy any of these items (esp over the internet, as it will probably be)?</div>

<a href="http://people.tribe.net/524bcd6f-66c8-4f9e-bb13-690368bc49b6/blog/2eb98af4-72cc-4564-8892-d994cbd278dd">  						          <img class=" picThumb" src="http://images.tribe.net/tribe/upload/photo/bab/afd/babafdbe-f781-4be5-96a9-7528b11bd871.thumb" width="65" height="54" alt="" />
    </a>
										<div>Taking inspiration from Yasemin &amp; Marta - I've decided to have a contest to help me name my newest creation! They are undecorated, converted &amp; reinforced bra bases ready for your decorating pleasure! :)

Each bra is constructed from a molded cup underwire base. Then the sides are reinfoced with heavy interfacing &amp; affixed to a nickle-plated, welded ring (ranging from 1-1/2" to 3" in diameter, based on the bra size). The cups are reinforced from the inside with plastic boning across the top edge of the cup &amp; across the width of the cup, and are reinforced on the outside with a layer of heavyweight interfacing as well. Then the entire bra is covered in soft, sturdy black cotton tweed for durability &amp; a long life span. Velvet-lined straps sprout from another welded-ring on top of each cup, where they criss-cross across the back &amp; through the side rings for ultimate support, comfort &amp; stability when you dance!

However "Ready To Decorate Bra Base" is just well...boring. I need a better, sexier, more catchy name! HELP!! That's where you come in! Post your suggestions here by Sunday, June 21st &amp; I (along with a small focus group of highly skilled dancers!) will pick a winner. You can post as many times as you like &amp; enter as many name suggestions as you like between now &amp; then. As I will be posting this in the Belli Phat tribe &amp; on Facebook as well, if someone ties with the exact same name (&amp; I pick it), I will award it to the person with the earlier time stamp.

If I choose your suggestion, you will win a Ready-to-decorate Bra in your size - ABSOLUTELY FREE. Runners up #1 &amp; #2 will each win 50% off one in their size as well!!

See pics in the tribe for examples of these new creations - and feel free to ask me if anyone has any questions. :)
Good luck!</div>

    </a>
										<div>Hello, all! Just wanted to send out a reminder to all about the Kansas City stop of the Durga Tour! http://belliphat.com/workshops.html

First of all, thank you to all who have pre-registered, it is much appreciated. :) Secondly, remember that the workshop will take place at the Matt Ross Community Center in old town Overland Park ( http://www.opkansas.org/Contact_U...t_ross.cfm - about 80th &amp; Metcalf - feel free to email me or call me at 913-638-5115 if you need directions). We will be in the Plaza Room -- at the back of the top level of the building.

Show up early if you want to shop! Doors will open a little after 5pm &amp; the first workshop will begin promtply at 6:30pm! Be sure to bring cash or checks, as not all vendors will accept credit cards (if any). Vendors are scheduled to be:

* MedDevi Ink by Tempest: http://www.meddevi.com
* Belli Phat by Bellatrix: http://www.belliphat.com
* Bindi and Tribal Bellydance Gear by m'chelle: http://miischelle.etsy.com
* Various Assundries by Miss Day DePriest

It is advised to bring water (there is a water fountain, but there will not be any bottled water for sale) &amp; wear comfortable, breathable clothing. If you are taking a floorwork class, Tempest recommends that you wear clothing that covers your knees (ie yoga or dance pants) &amp; bring kneepads or a floor/yoga mat, if at all possible. We will not have nay of these items for general use, so please be sure to remember yours if you have some!

Feel free to let me know if you have any questions. Otherwise, we'll see everyone tomorrow night!
Thank you,

										<div>Had a lovely last class last night with Jemira &amp; the girls. They're closing the Blue Moon studio &amp; Jemira is taking a break (after 10 years straight) of teaching - and who can blame her? LOL

As I pulled into the parking lot, I totally thought - darnit! I shoulda brought my new Eye Kandy kit with me! And I should have... The girls would've loved to have seen the sparklies!!! (and can you blame them?)

So, I *will* be bringing my kit to the Blue Moon hafla this Saturday night! So, if you want/need sparklies, come see me! :)</div>

I really think doing such a thing is the *worst* idea of all time. All that does is encourage people to not withhold throughout the year &amp; to pay in when they file.

Luckily for them, like the state, most people can't budget throughout the year &amp; save their tax money up, so they don't have to come up with a lump sum at the end of the year.

If you wonder why Americans are in such personal debt, just look at our goverment!</div>

Durga Tour in KC

<a href="http://people.tribe.net/524bcd6f-66c8-4f9e-bb13-690368bc49b6/blog/3eeaf2fc-ebce-4ac7-a5fa-17f7681f3f5f">  						          <img class=" picThumb" src="http://images.tribe.net/tribe/upload/photo/b59/222/b59222aa-426b-4077-a591-db3045cbaeee.thumb" width="58" height="78" alt="" />
    </a>
										<div>So, I am considering sponsoring the Durga Tour in KC (June 2nd): http://www.meddevi.com/durga/home.html

What I need to know is -- if anyone would be interested in attending this event? Things to consider are:

1) This would be a workshop-only event (ie, no show), taught by Tempest and/or Tim Rayborn. More than likely, I would choose the 2 90-minute workshop option.

2) This is scheduled for a TUESDAY night (June 2nd - can't do anything about that date - it's predetermined by the tour).

3) This would be approximately two weeks after Masani's "Cirque du Beledi", and approximately one week before Lillies War.

4) Tickets would probably need to be about $25-40, to cover the costs involved.

So, give me your opinions, please! And if you are a teacher, please ask your students if there would be interest.

ps...if you know of a studio space where we could hold this -- would probably need to hold about 20-30 people -- let me know. Doesn't have to be a free space, just trying to find one that's available on a Tuesday night &amp; big enough (without costing hundreds of dollars)!</div>

Nothing to Wear

    </a>
										<div>Good grief. I have a gig this Friday night, and I can't seem to rustle up a costume that I like. How is it possible that with ALL of the freaking costume pieces I have, I suddenly have NOTHING TO WEAR?!?

You see, first of all, it's a peformance (followed by a short instruction/class) for a 13-year-old's birthday party. So it has to be family-friendly. But, as these are also mundanes (most of whom have never seen BD live &amp; in-person), I feel like it also has to be more "traditional" than some of the stuff we normally wear. More coins than tassels. More circle skirt than tiered skirt. More decorated bra than choli. And no fishnet or spider-web bodystockings. I know I am making this harder on myself than I need to be. But, honestly, my brain is so full of PIRATE BALL right now that I can't wrap my brain around anything else.

::sigh::

The ironic thing about this is, I was able to go over to Xira's on Saturday &amp; help pick out the stuff for her to wear in about 5 minutes flat. Me? Not so much...</div>

    </a>
										<div>So I am moved. Well, sort of. My stuff is physically in another location. :) Bless his heart, Hassan has been called in to work a few times unexpectedly the past few weeks (including this morning at 3:30am), so the basement suite that I was supposed to move in to isn't finished yet. So for now, all of my stuff is still in its boxes &amp; totes, sitting on Jemira &amp; Hassan's back porch. And my queen-bed is squatting in a queen-bed-sized room so that I have someplace to lay my head.

So, moved, but not settled. Just wanted to let you know, as I have spotty access to the internet &amp; no access to my computer at all (files, etc). Hopefully it'll all be good to go in the next few weeks. Send Hassan some happy vibes.</div>

										<div>So my day started with emails between me, my mom, my sister &amp; my sister-in-law firming up menu plans of who's bringing what for Thanksgiving. Then it crested with me coordinating catering &amp; sign-ups for a Thanksgiving pot luck lunch at my work next Tuesday. And it just ended with an email with the recipe for the cake pictured above in it: http://www.kraftfoods.com/kf/recipes/luscious-four-layer-pumpkin-cake-65930.aspx?e=email
