I keep thinking about cages today ...
We put the "bad". behind them, we put ourselves into them, when we drive ... our favorite music playing ... all secure ... We put our pets in them, to admire ... We build cages around the beings we "love" at times, because many times we feel that thay are "safer, more secure" there... and WE want them that way. Cages can be secure, but they are not freedom.Growing up I had 2 fischer love birds. One day while cleaning the cage outside, one of the birds got out, and flew right up to a very tall tree. I tried to lure it down with food on the ground, but the excitement, of the total release to the creature kept it in the tree. That night it was windy... and I could hear the bird calling, and the one inside the cage calling back. The next morning , I awoke and still heard that bird! They were communicating.I opened up the second floor window, took a perch of wood, and layed it outside the window with a book supporting the far end. within 5 mins, the bird was sitting on the perch. I opened up the "cage" and he walked back in, to be with its mate. Back to the comfort and security.
And then what happens ... the wings are clipped, and true flight is not allowed. So, "we" esacpe in other ways . Through going inside, we get outside. But, its not the same really is it. To feel the wind in your hair, the grass and pebbles under your bare feet, the warmth of the sun radiating all over you .... Freedom. When I was a kid, I went to zoos, now thay allways leave a sad emptyness inside me. I realise that throgh the destruction of habitat, and careless dissregard of habitat, it can be somewhat helpful .... but is that truly the best we can do? When I see people,in relationships, that have begun to have cages built around them, i see it, and feel it. I wish for every living being to fly .. explore... feel that sun .. soar.. and be free. Another turn, and here I am .. here WE are. In the comming days, weeks, I hope to get the hang of all this, tweak it all out, {if possible} and share some thoughts, ideas, dreams ....
