What I've gotten myself into lately...

Primeval, Beautiful, Maybe a Little Scary: October (blog entry) I love where I live and I love this time of year. Very few things are as invigorating, to me, as October in the Hudson Valley. With a crisp chill in the air, the scent of burning leaves on the wind and the knowledge that the old time of dying, w... read more

The Little Death & The Big Roar (blog entry) “Sleep.

Those little slices of Death.

How I loathe them.”

- Edgar Allen Poe

Most, if not all of us have our brushes with death, whether it’s the real or the spiritual. That first brush might be a kiss or a train wreck. Maybe it was... read more

What have you lost in growing up? (blog entry) Ever since I heard a live, acoustic version of the Dar Williams song, "When I Was a Boy" (thank you WDST, Woodstock radio!), I have thought it was entirely beautiful and disarming. Most, if not all of us have our brushes with death, whether it’s the real or the spiritual. That first brush might be a kiss or a train wreck. Maybe it was a near drowning incident as a child, that first pet that died or Robert Frost…something that made you realize that one day you too would lie down, close your eyes, things would change and something would come to an end.

What was it for you? And ... read more

Ever since I heard a live, acoustic version of the Dar Williams song, "When I Was a Boy" (thank you WDST, Woodstock radio!), I have thought it was entirely beautiful and disarming. It's the sort of song that can mean a lot of different things to anyone who listens to it, but to me it reminds me of what we had when we were young and what we should all cherish in each other. To me it tells of the peril of labeling and categorizing people to death and how children can be so joyfully oblivious to... read more
