<div>BIOBUS (space) SHUTTLE 2008. That’s right…WE’RE BACK FOR YEAR 2!!!

Meet new lifelong friends on the BIOBUS (space) SHUTTLE to Black Rock City. You will be scooped up at Reno International and whisked to Whole Foods for a quick grocery run and then on to the playa!!! This is our second year in a pilot program to lessen our cumulative impact of travel to the greatest city on Mama Earth.

A $60-$75 donation to Burn Clean Project will reserve a One Way ride to or from the playa, helping you to avoid burning petroleum, the cost of a car rental, and the worst part of all—scrubbing the rental car thoroughly enough so they don’t charge you a playa-sized cleaning fee!

Lets get on the bus! For more information, go to the Burn Clean Project's website at:

Thank you and tons of loves!

Burn Clean Project officially presents…

BIOBUS (space) SHUTTLE 2007

with your lovely pilot Peter, The German Guy

Meet new lifelong friends on the BIOBUS (space) SHUTTLE to Black Rock City. You will be scooped up at Reno International and whisked to Wild Oats for a quick grocery run and then on to the playa!!! This is the first in a pilot program to lessen our cumulative impact of travel to the greatest city on Mama Earth. If you still haven’t bought your BM ticket and plan to ride the BIOBUS, then please get your tickets shipped to you and carry them by hand, to help the BIOBUS avoid long waits at Will Call.

A $55-$65 (your call) donation to Burn Clean Project will reserve a One Way ride to or from the playa, helping you to avoid burning petroleum, the cost of a car rental, and the worst part of all—scrubbing the rental car thoroughly enough so they don’t charge you a playa-sized cleaning fee!

Check www.burncleanproject.org for availability!

Dates and Times

(this schedule is padded so we don’t make people impatient and grumpy…you may arrive at BRC (exact location TBA) earlier in the day, but we want to air on the side of a loose schedule, not tight, and remember…as soon as you step on the BIOBUS (space) SHUTTLE, your Burn has officially begun…just think of all the friends you can make before even stepping foot on the playa!)

Reno International Spaceport (RNO)-Black Rock City (BRC)

Monday August 27, Tuesday August 28, Wednesday August 29

RNO Loading: 12:30-1:15pm

Will Call: 4:45ish

Black Rock City: 5:45ish

Tip: The Sun is supposedly going to set at 7:30ish. This gives you a little under 2 hours to find your camp. Having a minimum of luggage and a keen idea of how to hitch a ride to your camp will come in handy here. You will be dropped in a central location, the exact coordinates are still TBA. (We’re waiting on a BM source to tell us what’s gonna fly.)

Black Rock City (BRC)-Reno International Spaceport (RNO)

Sunday September 2, Monday September 3, Tuesday September 4

BRC Loading: 6-6:45am

Exodus: 7-7:30ish

Reno Int’l: 10:00am

Tip: Do not be late to load. You will be left in the (playa) dust. No ride is guaranteed for you any of the following days if you miss the bus. There is a NO REFUND POLICY. Be on time. We love you. Be on time.

Each leg of the journey is sold separately. There are 30 spaces per shuttle. Here are the steps to booking your seats, please read each one thoroughly:

1. CHECK TIMES. Check www.burncleanproject.org on the homepage under the entry: Spaces on the BIOBUS (space) SHUTTLE to see what times and dates are remaining.

2. SEND YOUR REQUEST. Send a request for the time slot(s) you would like to book to: connect@burncleanproject.org.

3. CHECK YOUR EMAIL. Within 8 hours, BCP sends you an email notice of whether your times are available and if they are, then you will receive a PayPal invoice for the amount of a One Way or Roundtrip, depending on your request.

4. PAY IN 24 HRS &amp; BE 100% SURE! Pay the PayPal invoice within 24 hours of receiving it OR YOUR SEAT REQUESTS WILL BE GIVEN AWAY. PayPal accepts Mastercard, Visa, Amex, Discover, PayPal, or a Bank Transfer. You may donate anywhere from $55-$65 for a guaranteed One Way or $110-$130 for a Roundtrip reservation. Be 100% sure when you book, as there is a NO REFUND POLICY.

5. PACK LIGHT. There is space for you to have 2 pieces of luggage and 2 bags of groceries plus water from Wild Oats. No bicyclettes, bikes, trikes, segways, scooters…you get it…we ain’t got room. Have your friends bring a bike for you or have one shipped.

6. KNOW YOUR ID. Arrive at Reno Int’l or at the pick-up location (TBA) in Black Rock City knowing two things: Your Name (bless you if this is in question, which it may be on the return trip) and Your ID # that we will send with your confirmation. You may want to tattoo these things on yourself… or place them inside your wallet.

7. BE NICE. Be amazingly cooperative, punctual, and funloving with the BIOBUS pilot, Peter the German Guy aka Teacher with the Bus. Be sober and don’t get sick or leave trash in the bus (we will be charged a hefty fine.) Peter is very wonderful and he is bringing his beautiful partner and their brand new daughter out to the playa to provide this incredible service. Without Peter and Family, we may not be enjoying this green transport heaven!

8. SPREAD THE WORD. Tell all your burner friends to book early! If the BIOBUS is a success this year, the project will most likely expand to carry many more people in a sustainable way to the playa for years to come.

Book your trip early as there is limited space!

Assembling energy systems naturally

    </a>
<div>I came to Boston almost three years ago to work on a very interesting project. The project was to figure out how to use natrual self-assembly by atomic/molecular forces to assemble a battery. The theory had been developed, but the experimental verficiation of the theory was elusive. Young-Kyu Cho and I worked on identifying the appropriate system, doing the calculations, taking measurements on the atomic force microscope and doing the proof-of-concept experiments. We did it, we figured it out, how? We devised a path, worked through obstacles, communicated about the issues and ran the experiments. That was the most important thing, being the catalyst to run the experiments, to get out of the head and calculations and measurements of the thing and go ahead and make the thing.

Now, our work has just been published in a scientific journal called Advanced Functional Materials and we got the cover. This is the first time that a complete functional system that does something (it stores and delivers energy, i.e., its a battery) has been assembled by natural forces alone (by current culture). If you want to know more details about how it works, drop me a line. Aside from that, the subtext message which is quite clear in the tone and words is that the first step to manifestation is catalyzing the process by starting it.</div>
