I can't keep up

   Fri, February 22, 2008 - 10:39 PM
So does anybody else have, like, a really full schedule for the next 4 months or so? It seems like every time I go to rehearsal, go to class, open my email, read through LJ, or check tribe there's another performance or workshop opportunity. And I want to do them all. There's just been like a bellydance frenzy going on in this area lately. A year or two ago events were spread out enough so that when anything came up, it was just like, am I interested? can I afford it? yes - ok, I'll go. Now it's like every weekend there are multiple options that are all good and I have to choose, and in addition to the two questions above, I also have to factor in commitments to (and a desire to support) troupemates/friends/teachers/solo work. I've also got to factor in family commitments, dental appointments, troupe rehearsals and the fact that the weekend is the only time that my and my boyfriend's work schedules both allow for free time.

This is getting overwhelming.

LOL...Are we over booking you? I know...I feel the same way. Too many options. Well you won't be missing much tonight, performing around a stairway in a mall and having people bid on us is not exactly my idea of funI But...its for a good cause. I just found out I will be missing an opportunity with Alessandra too...arghhhh! But...well...what can you do. Enjoy your weekend together because its going to be insane until...what? May?

And just to add more, we just posted about two workshops we're hosting with Michelle Devine on May 3rd: Intro to sword, and Double Veil!

SO, there's even more to consider for interests/finance/needing to actually see your boyfriend...etc.

It's me, I admit it, I'm causing all the strife in your life ;)

Oh, man, I so know what you mean. Since every Sunday I teach, and tomorrow is the Hafla-in-the-Afternoon in Flemington, tomorrow looks especially full. I'm missing the Belloni workshop too. Two Saturdays and one Sunday in March are already gone, and Gypsy Caravan's Collective Soul workshops are coming up in April. May is Mahira Tribe's event as well as the Smithville event. June is Spring Caravan. Yeek.

So many comments to reply to - I wish this blog could thread like LJ.

Anne - I love performing with the troupe. I know not everyone can be a part of every performance, but I still feel bad when I have to say no. And as far as a weekend together goes: yesterday (Saturday) I had to drive up by my parents' to make a dental appointment, then my cousin's baby shower, and then drive home. Today I spent a while showing my car to someone who might buy it, and then Miah went off to a capoeria workshop. Busy busy.

Amy - Mahira's workshops and hafla are events I've been considering. Right now they're in the probably list :)

Tempest - Yes, my life was perfect until you moved back to Jersey. I curse you. ;-P Actually, your intensive next month is one of the events I'm going to have to pass on. Being Easter weekend, I'll have to be up in Bergen County the next day for 8am mass, plus my cousin's due to give birth that weekend, so I'm trying to keep that time free. :(

Christiane - It's crazy to be this busy, isn't it? The same weekend as Gypsy Caravan, DDLC is hosting Aubre teaching Jazz fusion and contemporary Arabic choreo. May has Mahira's events, Smithville (which I think I'm going to have to miss), and oh yeah, Tribal Fest, for which I'm going to for the whole thing. I don't know how I'm going to work in rehearsing ;-P Yesterday I made an appointment for my next dental visit. I scheduled it for the end of June. Hopefully things will calm down after SC (though I've already got at least one date in July booked), but if not, that's just another day where I'm going to be busy.
