So it's Feb 2009, and as the dust settles I am a reborn guitarist; I've sort of lost my obsession for all things world music related and have reverted to true form as a rock guitar player....bass and keys too. I have been putting all of my attention into my own original music and am much the happier for it.
Many years ago Dariush Sami told me that I should play fewer instruments and use my knowledge to write new music. It took a number of years for me to catch up, but that is where I am now. I find that what I learned from all the other musics of the world has influenced me, but I can no longer try to "color in the lines" as opposed to doing what I want.
Plus I don't have to take care of this ridiculous instrument collection any more, just keep my guitars and such in shape.
