about me
I'm an engineer and if I told you what I really do, I'd have to kill you...
I have been belly dancing since March of 2004 and I am addicted! The sewing came with the dancing. I have yet to purchase a costume- all 4 cotumes I have, I made my self. And rock climbing, hiking, camping... I started climbing because of my husband- it is his life passion and I enjoy it, too. I started hiking and camping in Colorado. I miss it there, but Southern California has a lot to offer as far as climbing/hiking/camping destinations. We still have a lot of exploring to do... But enough about me...

So my new years resolution went bunk as soon as Mythos caught fire. I can't blame it on Mythos, though. There are plenty of places down in LA where I could have signed up to showcase. I just got busy with life (like my trip to Japan with the coolest friends ever! *) and lazy with dance.

Hooray! Mythos is re-opening tonight! And even better news- I am no longer just the substitute! I am one of the official dancers! I feel so honored to share the dance floor with Sedona and Faizeh- ... read more
One of my resolutions was to perform publicly at least one time a month. So far this is working out extremely well! At least it is for January and February. From there it gets a little fuzzy... but there are always showcases I can sign up for and who knows when I will get to sub at the restaurant!

I know- it isn't belly dancing, but I have been reading some really good books lately and I have to share...

First off, for those engineery type folks, or those that just like outer space: Riding Rockets by Mike Mullane. He was an astronaut and this book is the "how I became an astronaut and what it was like." It is funny, touching and very, very interesting. (and not too engineery) My other recent favs: The Secret Life of Bees and The Mermaid Chair by Sue Monk Kidd. Awesome books... read more

I love restaurant dancing- I love the connection and interactions with the audience. And I love the fact that I don't really have to choreograph anything; I just have to know the music and the rest just sort of flows. (Yeah, if I practiced more, I would probably be WAY more entertaining, but that is beside the point!) I went to help out with a local dancing event last night and multiple people asked why I wasn't dancing. Part of the reason is that I'm a slac... read more
Woo Hoo!!! I spent all weekend finishing up that gold costume for a christmas party that I am dancing at tonight. I am soooo glad to be finished with it (having one boob beaded and not the other looks a bit silly)! But I really don't want to see another gold bead again for a looooong time. ugh. Maybe one of these days I will break down and buy a costume for once!
