I grew up (and still live) on a small island, although I won't be here much longer. In January I'm starting college, where I'm heading toward a doctorate in British history and, perhaps, a master's in political science. Overall, I think most people's opinion of me is that I'm quiet, polite, smart, calm, and quirky. That's not exactly true, however. The only reason I'm perceived as "quiet" is because I hate small talk; when I have a conversation, it's a <i>conversation</i>. I guess the rest of the words are close enough to be correct. I love debating about almost anything, although I hate when someone resorts to "It's right because I said so". That's crap. There's nothing I won't talk about, and I love finding people who are the same way.
