For 25 years I've headed a New York graphic design firm (www.visualanguage.net), After having offices in New York City I've rightsized to a home office in leafy Irvington, and love the freedom and ability to pursue new interests, including making large digital paintings, growing a beautiful garden, and drumming.
As a freelance journalist and contributing editor of PRINT magazine and Communication Arts, I've written two books about design and nearly 100 magazine articles about designers and design trends around the world. Next stop: covering the ICOGRADA Congress in Havana, Cuba. And now beginning research for a book about PAIN (the kind you don't want to have). Muscle and nerve pain is a common malady of writers and designers who sit at computers for hours and hours, but it affects all kinds of people in strange and mysterious ways... that I hope to uncover and to provide some insights and possible relief.
