ever wonder where our stuff comes from, and where it goes? This video is great, here is an introduction to it, if you want to see the whole thing you can find it here: www.storyofstuff.com/

"What is the Story of Stuff?

Connect with Annie From its extraction through sale, use and disposal, all the stuff in our lives affects communities at home and abroad, yet most of this is hidden from view. The Story of Stuff is a 20-minute, fast-paced, fact-filled look at the underside of our production and consumption patterns. The Story of Stuff exposes the connections between a huge number of environmental and social issues, and calls us together to create a more sustainable and just world. It'll teach you something, it'll make you laugh, and it just may change the way you look at all the stuff in your life forever." (taken from the story of stuff website)

In my words, The Story of Stuff was written with children in mind, but that's ok. I'm just a bigger version of a kid anyway. It still has a great message. STOP buying crap. AirMac???wtf? why do they feel the need to keep coming out with better, newer versions? why not perfect the computers we are using, and stop making them in a way that means we have to waste so much material? This is a good message for me too, because I have a tendency to always "need" something. I guess our society is designed this way. My tiny little apartment is filled with crap I barely use. According to this author's research, only 1% of the stuff we buy is still in use 6 months after we purchase it. woah, that's alarming.
