Well it's taken longer than forever, but the site for our crazy BMAN-based opera, "How to Survive the Apocalypse" is FINALLY up and fully functional. There's a 10-minute demo that'll give folks a sense of what we're up to, and info about what we're looking for in terms of help and connections (summary: anything that'll help us take the next step).
I'd love folks to look and listen and give me feedback.... and pass it on as widely as you wish.

I've spent the afternoon trying to get organized for my next trip (NOT the fun part), so I thought I'd take a break and post about where I'm going! (info per my friend and guide, Gary McCue)

We ended our time in Mongolia with a couple of days in the natural areas near Ulan Bataar. First, we drove to the West of the city through a snowy and hilly landscape to a park where Mongolia's indigenous wild horse, the Takhi, is being reintroduced.
The creature is genetically distinct from the domestic horse (56 vs. 54 chromosomes) and will not cross-breed; its skull is about 1/3 larger, it has a short mane and a long-but-thin ribbon-like tail, and is always dun-colored. Takhis became ...

Hello again from the back side of the planet, where we've been in a complete news blackout since I last wrote. I hope the world has been keeping itself in good stead!
We flew from Ulan Bataar to Dalanzadgad in the South Gobi on 2/23 via the only remaining non-grounded Mongolian airline (MIAT). The plane was a Russian-made 36 seater with no overhead storage, no under-seat storage, no leg room, and no cargo hold: the bags were simply piled in compartments at the rear of the plane and held ...

We arrived in UB bright and early the morning of the first day of Tsagaan Sar, their Lunar New Year holiday which is described as "Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years and Easter rolled into one." Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING was closed -- even the little hotel
lobby shop and the hotel health club (they left one Chinese restaurant open in the hotel, thank god!). (Does it go without saying, btw, that the irate "kids today don't respect the old Tsagaan Sar traditions" editorial in the Eng...
