Love sucks the way hammers suck. One slip, and blam, there's your thumb. On the other hand, try building a home without a hammer - or love. It can be done, but would hardly be worth the effort.
The big problem most people have with love is the smallness of the definition as they understand it. To most people love describes a feeling. It's an intense feeling in many cases, but it basically all boils down to affection. That's love of a sort, but only the begining of adult love. Real and complete adult love is about a choice to use that foundation of shared feelings to merge universes and build a life together. It doesn't always have sexual components or connotations, it could be love of a community, way of life, subject of study, or just about anything else. |
