</a>
										<div>I am not a professional writer. Not even a novice writer. I will never be a writer, however, I feel myself compelled to put my views on the sad state of our society on paper or at least on the internet.

I was born in the seventy’s and during my life span, western civilization seems to have been tripping over itself in the race to attain the “perfect” lifestyle; ultimately a lifestyle full of choices.

As far back as I can remember, I have been taught to think by society that my life will provide me with a feast of options and that I am damn lucky to live in this part of the world.

The idea that choice equals happiness has been so ingrained into our generation that we will not be satisfied until we have the newest, best, fastest, strongest. This is incredibly convenient for the corporations pumping thousands of cell phone/car/computer models into the market.

This idea not only guides us as consumers, but in all aspects of our lives. How many high school graduates have absolutely no idea what they want to be when they “grow up??” They’ve had 18 years to decide, but unfortunately most of them have been paralyzed by the number of options placed in front of them that instead of pursuing something reasonable they will probably spend the next 5 years working in a dive bar or wasting tens of thousands on post secondary “trying to figure it out.”

I’m not saying that an array of options is a terrible thing; I’m just saying that it doesn’t always result in a happier way of life and that it almost always creates a state of uncomfortable paralysis.

I remember flying to Atlanta a few years ago and on my way there, the in-flight entertainment system consisted of 3 channels, none of which I really had much interest in, but I chose one and stuck to it.

On the way back, however, there was a vast selection of new releases. I couldn’t decide which one I wanted to watch and therefore, spent the entire flight watching the beginnings of movies until I decided that there had to be something better out there and changed the channel.

I feel like, as a culture, we have been programmed to change the channel when the going gets rough, or boring, or gains 10 pounds too many. You can always trade whatever you have for the newer model with more bells and whistles.

There is no sense of commitment any more. The divorce rate has never been so high. If you don’t like your spouse, get a new one. Don’t stick around and work things out. No, that requires emotional investment and loyalty.

It’s so much easier to just watch the beginning and then flip the channel.

										<div>Dear Mom,

I stood my watch, last night
but I saw nothing new
on the blood soaked ground
and those we did subdue
lay, where they fell,
like broken dolls,
their stuffing strewed around.

I stood my watch, and prayed
for dawn and my relief
and then I stumbled away
like some sort of thief.

I stood my watch, last night
but I saw nothing new
on the blood soaked ground
and those we did subdue
lay, where they fell,
like broken dolls,
their stuffing strewed around.

I pray this bloody War
is the last
and Victory within
our grasp,
that all our sons and daughters
will now be spared
from the horrors
that we, in this place,
have shared.

I stood my watch, last night
but I saw nothing new
on the blood soaked ground
and those we did subdue
lay, where they fell,
like broken dolls,
their stuffing strewed around.

I Love You Mom,

    </a>
										<div>I am sick and tired the endless drivel all over the news and the newspapers about concert ticket brokers buying up all the tickets before they go on sale to the pubic. Then turning around and selling the tickets for a higher price. And how a number of “Fan Clubs”, parents, other concert goers across the states are filing law suites, complaining in the news, and protesting about “Big Ticket” yadda…..yadda….yadda….

But I don’t think these people realize. These ticket brokers are just like everyone else who sells a product, or service. They are a BUSINESS. They are in to make money like everyone else.

Hell, we bitch and moan about the rise of gas prices and how “Big Gas” are forcing everyday products like dairy products, plane tickets, etc. And we have no choice but to basically deal with it.

What’s next people?  “Big Egg”!

										<div>Four days after John Mellencamp’s reps asked John McCain to stop playing his songs “Our Country” and “Pink Houses” at his rallies, the Republican frontrunner’s campaign spokesman announced today that Mellencamp’s songs would no longer be played as McCain’s rallying cry. Mellencamp, a noted liberal who was supporting John Edwards, took umbrage with McCain using his music as he traveled from primary state to primary state trying to prove to his party that he is a “true conservative.” According to Mellencamp’s publicist, “If you’re such a true conservative, why are you playing songs that have a very populist pro-labor message written by a guy who would find no argument if you characterized him as left of center?” McCain’s people agreed, and have ceased playing the songs.

    </a>
										<div>Humanity!

What is wrong with people these days??? Why can’t we help other people while they are in a crisis? Despite they income, race, or where they live.

OK.  Let me explain…

One of OUR patient’s came in today with his 2 daughters (Teenager, and 4 years old) came in today for treatment.

After their appointments, he went out to warm up the car for his girls, but he ran out of gas. So they came in to the clinic asking the staff for help. “I just ran out of gas warming up the car. I though I had enough to get here, and back. I ran out of gas, trying to warm up the car.” “I don’t have any money until I get paid on Wednesday.” “But I do have a gas can.” “Can I borrow a few dollars from someone? I promise to pay you back!”

The staff here basically turned up their noses and made some kind of snide remakes under their breath on how he should of made sure to had enough gas to bring them here and back, especially in the cold.

Well….true, in a sense. But the way I look at it, at least he got them here, and both of his daughters got seen by the doctor and got the necessary treatment they both needed.

So, I “CREATIVLY” expressed my concerns to the crowd of employees, escorted the father and his 2 daughters to my office. Called a cab, and paid for a round trip from the clinic to the gas station. While his daughter’s played on the internet in my office.

About 45 minutes later, he came back with his gas, more than enough gas to get to the pharmacy and home.

    </a>
										<div>OYE!!!! Well, I had an EMG test this morning for my foot.

For those of you who don’t know what an EMG test is. Basically, it’s a test to see if you have nerve damage in a leg, foot, arm, hand, etc, using electricity.

The test is done in two stages. Epidermal (on top of the skin) stimulation with contacts taped to the skin, and IM (inter muscular) stimulation with needles. OYE!!!

I will not lie to you….it hurts like HELL. Especially when they up the voltage to make your leg, arm, foot, etc jump.

But…… Jeana was with me, and was sitting in waiting for me. She took really good care of me. Damn….I Love this women!

Well, come to find out. The doctor thinks I have a pinched nerve in my lower back, due to my hospital stay last year. But I need to get a CT done to find out exactly where it’s pinched at.

Good thing I have an OSU Frequent Visitor Card. One more punch and I get a free pizza. Woo...Hoo…. lol

										<div>Well, I decieded to start taking guitar lessons up again. It's been a while since I've taken a lesson.

But as you know, when you start taking lessons, you HAVE TO buy a new....... It's the LAW!

In my case, it was a new Dean EVO MX. I found this guitar on clearance at a local guitar shoppe.

Lucky for me, Jeana is very supportive with ALL of my hobbies. As I am very supportive of her's, as well.

Well, I will keep you posted on my progress.

P.S. Jeana, the guy at the guitar shoppe said that this guitar comes with FREE EAR PLUGS!!!! lol </div>

    </a>
										<div>On the streets
There is peace
A home
A place
For all traveling ones
To walk, run or rest their feet
Where all
Are accepted
There is earth
Hopefully not too covered, crowded or pounded
That loves each and every step
Of each and every one
Each moment's breath
A birth
With no one left off or left out
As if God's Children could ever be alone
On the streets
We are free
There is freedom
To be
That which we are
Whatever that may be
"Our" way
An"other's" way
But all
A part of the same
Respecting and honoring
The gifts of the day
That come our way
As we are aware of
The love
Of the peaceful Way
On the streets
There was grass
There is dirt
Underneath
That quietly, softly
Speaks
That supports
As we incessantly seek
Purport
Through constant effort driven by need
While
All the while
The truest support
Is like unto Nature
Held, effortlessly holding
Natural Beingness upheld

    </a>
										<div>Reason to Smile

How can one smile such sweet smiles,
When one is so saddened by sorrows for miles,
How can I smile the same smiles,
When life brings me nothing but tears,

I wondered for so long,
What reason you had to smile that long,
To keep smiling though troubles come,
And still remain sweet and silently overcome,

It's such a mystery to me,
Your smiles from heaven with glee,
I adore and yet envy thee,
But I'd rather you smile those at me,

I feel happy when I see you smile,
Even if I'm sad and lonely,
Your smiles bring me somewhere,
I don't even know where,

But it was you,
You gave me the reason to smile,
To smile with no reason,
To smile for a smile,

I guess life is just like that,
We need not a reason to smile,
For a smile is the reason itself,
To rejoice and open-heartedly give thanks,

I learned to smile because of you,
Because your smiles bring me joy when blue,
It proves how well and powerful,
A simple sweet smile can become so beautiful,

Smile for the sake of a smile,
Smile for the sake of happiness,
Smile for the sake of life,
Smile because of hope left in life,

Smile my friends,
Smile for me my Love,
Smile those same sweet smiles,
Smile so the world can be a peaceful dove...

    </a>
										<div>Belly Dancer, The world halts to see you move
Your gracious body: Turn, Twist, and Twirl
To profound sounds of Doumbek, Kanoon, and Oud.
Undulating stomach: unroll and unfurl.
Click, Clack, Click, Clack: Clinking Cymbals bite the air.
Sparkling Sylvanite coins jingling luminescent.
Your Piercingly Pretty Persian eyes: Hypnotize.
Swift consistency of your Figure 8's, anything but evanescent
Vibrating Shimmy Shimmy, the onlookers eyes left paralyzed
Charm the snake with the enticing music of your body.
Arms swaying delicately like wings of a dove.
But men fear the power of your Snake Hips.
Child-bearing rituals: Symbols of Sisterly Love.
Goddess. Invite, Entrance, Do as you wish.
Silky veil floats and flaps around you.
Strings of Obsidian hair falling loftily as you back-bend.
Barefoot you dance, your heel lifts you
Up, Up into the sky, Your rhythm will never demise.
Goddess, you are the essence of paradise.

    </a>
										<div>Well….I got a new hobby…I now silkscreen.

I did my first silkscreen of a several days ago, of a dragon I traced. It turned out ok, the image as too light. I didn’t’ have enough gap between the screen and the t-shirt. But hey….it was my first print.

Saturday, I went to the art supply store and picked up a silk screen kit (big box). Man, it has everything. I can do so…so…so much stuff with it. I can’t wait to really dive in to it.

I spent most of Sunday watching the DVD that came with the kit, and also sketching out and traced a few patterns and pictures. My drawings are not the greatest, matter of fact, I can’t really even draw. (Except when it comes to drawing plans for a stage, or other building/remolding projects.). But I know who does….”Ah, Jeana. Can you draw/trace something for me……please!!!?”

Anyway, I will let you know how the new kit works out. I am also open for any suggestions and/or tips.

										<div>What a weekend!!!! Scorched Nuts 2007 Burn Baby Burn! I am sitting here in my office with the lights off, sunglasses on and munching on Tylenol like they are candy.

But this weekend was not all about fire and various concoctions of beer and mixed drinks. It was all about letting loose and having fun. Sometimes, as adults, we forget to do because of our “adult obligations”.

Thanks Zombie's!</div>

The Kid in me.....

    </a>
										<div>As we grow older and embrace the multitude of responsiblitiles that adulthood brings, we often bury a part of ourselves along the way. In my childhood days, each day gave me a new adventure in the form of playing with my friends and learning. The fun I had was very different. It was spontaneous, unplanned and exuberant. Having fun for the pure delight of it make you act silly or giddy but part of having fun is letting go and acting like a kid again. (Remember, a litle fun now and again can help you fight stress and lead to a creative inspiration.)

As I look at some of my old pictures way, way, back, it made me stop, think, and made me realize one thing. I MISS the child in ME!!!!!

Kids know that fun doesn’t have to be carefully planned like you need to do a schedule. So…..here are some thing that I do on a regular basis to get me back to that inner kid:

1. Go to the playground (there is one less than a block away from the studio).
2. Shoot crumpled paper basketballs into the trash can (5.4.3.2.1…BUZZZ Brown makes the winning basket!!!! The CROWD goes WILD!!!!)
3. Sit in the middle of the isle in the Toy Department at Target, and play with the kids toys.
4. Play in the rain (I just did that. That’s the reason for this blog.)

Well, my point is FUN can come from veering away from your normal routine, even in the small things. We can also do something we haven’t done since childhood, for me it’s to paint with my fingers.

Finding fun in an unexpected places is the kind of joy no one can take away from you.

A little fun can go a long way toward lifting your spirit, especially when you find yourself doing something tad wacky. There are lessons to be learned in doing so, about staying carefree and doing something that makes you laugh every day!

Now, go out and act like a KID. Have FUN!!!!!

    </a>
										<div>Well, I finished my first full week at the new job.

Come to find out, I was given the wrong job title. I am not the On-Site Laboratory Supervisor. I am the Laboratory Coordinator. Same job, same pay, and same responsiblities.

I found out that they have been without a coordinator for over a year and a half. So, alot of things was either not done, fell through the cracks, or staffing just stop caring. So, I have a long road ahead of me. Oye!!!

But I will have to say, I am very proud of myself. I have took a bare, newly remodled laboratory (at one of our other clinics) and got it up and running within 2 1/2 days. And.....and I passed both my CLIA and OSHA inpections, both on the first try.

Now I am at the main facility, trying to get that up and running.

2 Labs down, 4 more to go......

    </a>
										<div>OYE...!!!!!! I survived New Employee Orientation, barely.

Now, I have to completely set up a brand new lab from the ground up.

That includes, help hire and train new Phlebotomists, train current staff, set up a off site reference lab, and deal with equipment vendors.

The kick in the butt is...... the clinic opens Monday!!!!! So that give me less than a week.

NO PRESSURE!!!  LOL</div>
