I met Amba last year. She was easily the most intriguing, most mysterious person in my religious studies class. She would often arrive just as the class was starting, in gorgeous and flowing clothes and sit by the door. I think she may have spoken up a few times, but it was the air of silence that really hooked me in.
She is very opinionated. This can be a little hard to deal with, especially as she deserves to be opinionated. Her opinions are grounded in a life richly lived among fellow humans. Also, I am not sure, but I think she is a lot smarter than me. This is my sense. It's disconcerting, as I am used to being the smartest one.
I have hardly spent any time with Amba. Nevertheless I am excited to know her. Every conversation yields yet more interesting stuff that makes me go "really??!!" I wish we could get over our schedules and see each other more. No doubt this will happen - because I think we have much to share.
