This is a wish written by a very remarkable 14 yr. old girl, Meera. She is like a little sister to me. Her vision and wish for the world is soooo profound, just felt to share it with all of you.
Wouldn’t it be great to love everyone and be friends with all? I once heard a story of a man who was diagnosed with cancer and after a while of treatments the doctors said he had only 2 months to live so he should live wisely. He took the word “wisely” into consideration and thought about what that meant. Love was the only synonym to wise that he could find that was worth something. For last two months of his life he poured love unto others and was supportive, caring and grateful of others. Within those two months of giving and receiving love something had happened. The cancer had gone away as fast as the Colorado River runs. Love had brought him this gift. Can you imagined if we all poured love unto each other? Not only would everyone be overwhelmed with joy but at the same time we could be saving lives just by giving and receiving love. I think that is what is most important and also what we need to work on the most. That is what we need to talk about.
Can you imagine one day waking up and on this day you did not start off as well as usual? You walk into a room of people and one person stares straight into your eyes and greets you with a smile. That just might have picked up your day and you will always feel the comfort that warmed your heart at that exact moment. If someone feels down always try to pick them up because life is too short to bring anything but happiness to others. I like to think that good words are the links that form a chain of love. Without these links we would not have a chain.
“It is very possible that you will find human beings, surely very near you, needing affection and love. Do not deny them these. Show them, above all, that you sincerely recognize that they are human beings, that they are important to you.”- Mother Teresa.
That passage is very true. Everyone is equal and deserves both love and affection. As far as I am concerned the greatest suffering is to feel alone, unwanted and unloved. We are blessed with the choice of happiness. Pick happiness above all and share it with those who surround you. I sometimes wonder why we fixate on mistakes and push aside the important qualities of others. We are so much better than our mistakes and everyone should realize that. Our true purpose is greater than any mistake we have made and that is what we should focus on.
Being happy isn’t having everything in your life be perfect. I think it is about stringing together all of the little things. Like rescuing a homeless kitten or reading a book to a group of young children and watching their faces come alive as they listen intently. Making those experiences count for more than the bad things. We need to remember that something is only bad if we make it so.
Help others, shine light upon all and never forget who you are and what you are lucky enough to have!
