I speak here about myself as I am and hope to be and several others that I have met recently. You know who you are.

I respect strength. No, we're not talking about that eager nimrod over there who can bench press 500 lbs, but that one decently aimed verbal blow will bring to his knees sobbing like a 5-year old child that just found out that his bicycle doesn't stay up by itself and that gravity is not necessarily his friend. No, we are talking about that gut strength, that core heart and soul kind of strength. The kind that, when you see it in another human being, it fills you with pride and puts this small slightly smug smile on you're face. The kind that when someone can openly see it in another, no matter where they are in this long-winded transformation of trials and travels we call life, they want to be more than they are. Now then, I am also not referring to the blood, guts, and glory of the battlefield so let's just round file that one before someone out there gets the thought crosswise and chokes themselves. There is a very unique and pure honesty in crossing blades with your enemy right up where you can see each other's faces; seeing the soul behind the eyes, but the strength that I speak of is much more than that. It is equally at home on the battlefield, at work, at play, or in love. Just don't expect any quarter to be given or anything less than all that they have and, though they will pick their battles, the harder the trial, the bigger the smile on their face.
