Transvestite washboard playing.
Old people think nothing is funnier than a guy in a dress, and my new alter ego "Bobbi Sox" has taken a place with the washboard girls in the big banjo group. I took over for a wonderful entertainer named Gary Kinney who passed away earlier this summer, and I have to say that running around looking like a scary, beefy woman is a panic. Plenty really-I used my first name Owen at pagan festivals and such for many years as a way of keeping that side of my life separate from my everyday reality. Most of my friends and family have always called me Bob, and I've noticed lately that being called Owen has for some reason started to grate on my nerves. I think I'm starting to shed the part of me that has liked to compartmentalize the various aspects of my life and am looking for some kind of internal unity.
