KIND WORDS THAT TOUCH MY HEART

January 20, 2008
There are very few people in this world that hold a candle to my Grandma Josie. You see my Grandma Josie is the person I love the most in this world and she's the most awesome, sweetest, most loving person you will ever meet. Whenever I'm angry at the world, all I have to do is think of her and there I find my silver lining.

Jane, you are right up there with her. Except she drinks and cusses a lot more than you do, but that same warmth and love is there with you. To have you in this small guild of mongers is a blessing. To have you as a friend is a gift I cherish everyday.

Jane is a daisy.
She has a very special place in my heart. Once, so shy and timid, this woman has blossomed into one heck of a character at WRFF. What a heart! What a smile! Nothing but encouragement comes from Mumsy, I am honored to call her a friend.

Jane is warmth. She's caring, and it goes beyond just friendship. She has a touching way of conveying things. If she invites you into her tent for a lunch, her home for a meal, or her life for a conversation, well you've been blessed.

Jane is family. Not only does she have a large and caring one of her own, but she'll treat anyone like another member of the pack. If you're hungry and she's got food to spare, then you'll eat. If you give her respect she'll return it in spades.

Jane is funny. The first time I met her she sat at the foot of this tall, thick tree. She didn't understand why she was so picturesque, but she was adorable. Then, when asked why she doesn't sit on the other side of the tree she said, in a cute stage whisper, "'cause the dog pees on that side!" That's when I knew she'd make a perfect monger.

Time to Kill

This photo by Chris Yetter captured something extremly important to me. Mother and daughters enjoying the same moment in the same frame and moving. That's hard to do. The girls told me before the Parade started, "Don't worry Mum, everyone walks and stops the parade route at a snail's pace. You'll be able to keep up."
From the get go I was jogging along in the back. Plenty of company with Daf, and daughters but Holy Moly, there were no stops and pause's along the way. I never caught a glim... read more

Last week I learned about Blackwork. Made a collar and cuffs using a Rose pattern and today I learned how to make a High Collared linen smock from Jen Thompson's www.festiveattyre.com/ Costume site. I used that pattern plus what I knew about making shirts the Margo Anderson way and came up with this. Started at 8am this morning and working next on hand finishing all inside raw edges with flat fell seams after dinner tonight. It was hard but challenging in a good way. Keeps my min... read more

It is finally happening! I get to order 'The Mumsy Hut' next month! It's a toss up between Panther Primitives or TentSmiths. Prices are comparable. Either 8'6"x16'10" or 10'x10'. I want to go with the first from TentSmiths. I like the idea of curtaining off seperate areas for sleeping or eating. Also, I think if we ever want to sell it, vendors might go for the rectangular marquees rather than the smaller. This is going to be a real boost to my morale. Jack is even talking about staying to c... read more

Feeling much better yesterday and today. Cough less and energy rising. Back to researching for faire and history in general.
I have been studying Peter Brueghel paintings and drawings for a few years now and my favorite series has been the Faire at Hoboken and Faire of St. George. They are religous observance celebrations and some activities escape my understanding but I never tire of studying the detail. For art sake they delight me. Simple people doing all manner of things sketched with a ... read more
