Ah, Dre. So many memories. Her stage managing Main Stage and scaring the hell out of me. Her Countess of Essex which scared the hell out of me. Her obsession with squirrels, which scares the hell out of me.

Then she gave me a cupcake that looked like an ice cream cone.

Now I'm not scared anymore!

Just want more cupcakes.

You know why I loves me some Dre?

She once soiled one of my Morris Hankies.

Long story. Very funny.

But I do loves me some Dre. Surely do.

First of all, I suck at these. Second of all, I miss you. You make me laugh. I could use a good laugh right now. This time I am going to make you laugh for me...**insert evil laugh here** See you next week. I have never worked a faire without you being my director.....COOL! You rock Dre! Stay in trouble and away from squirrels.

Underneath the prickly exterior lies a true gem. I count myself among the few lucky one's to be allowed "in." You're fabulous, Dre... Don't ever believe otherwise.

Why? A Retrospective

about me
Born in San Francisco, CA and raised in the Marina District, Deirdre learned at a young age that you could get free snowcones from grown-ups by looking cute. This talent was wasted when her family moved to Beaver Cleaver-ville (aka North Stockton) away from all the kind Italians. While the Sargent family use to own the vast majority of land from Northern Marin into the Gold Country - that was 100 years ago. What happened? No one knows but rumors of a card game, too much whiskey and a goat still circulate around Jackson to this day. Stockton wasn't bad, they had racquetball & the High School mascot was named after a prophylactic.

Deirdre attended Lincoln High School, which she adored, once she toasted all the people that made fun of her at the prom and ruined her dress with that pigs blood.

After being run out of town on a rail (for the Prom incident), Deirdre started College of the Sequoias. During this time she worked for the California Shakespeare Festival, was the President of Delta Psi Omega and raised so much hell that they are still talking about it to this day. She also started her career of corset wearing portraying "Janet" in The Rocky Horror Picture Show for 5 years under the screen, on stage and with a Rocky themed catering company. Past classmates include 2 homosexuals, 1 Marine, 1 felon wanted in 5 states, 10 drunk losers, 2 housewives living in Tulare, 1 major film executive and a fellow Soiled Dove (Tulip).

Deirdre moved to Los Angeles where she attended The American Academy of Dramatic Arts. It was there that she got the nickname "Dre". She says "It was just a butch thing that a bunch of us girls thought up while we were drinking beer and shooting pool in some dive in Pasadena." Her high point at the Academy was on graduation night where her and a few classmates had a night of drunken debauch. They broke at least 8 laws. Gee, is the Academy still having open bar parties for their graduating Production Company kids? Hmmmm. At least WE were over 21.

She started working the California Renaissance Pleasure Faires in 1989 and started directing shows in 1991. She directed & performed some of the best quality Shakespeare shows on that site until they found out about the Prom incident. In an effort to get back to the theatre she loves, she started the Soiled Doves in 1998 on a bet. Gerald Zepeda once said, "If it's funny once, it's funny a thousand times." She took this to heart and ran with it.

After 4 years as Guildmaster of the Southern Queens Court, she retired in 2006 in favor of David Wine and his HUGE cup. She has been playing Queen Elizabeth at the Northern California Renaissance Faire since 2004 and is having a blast at the Love Faire of California. She is looking forward this year to camping, parties, corsets, and finding the secret to Life, The Universe and Everything. I'm convinced it is NOT 42 and has something to do with an activity that makes your toes curl.

What Now? Well, now that Deirdre's father has made the National political scene, Deirdre wants high level introductions at the best Georgetown parties. She planned to meet Socks, the First Cat and Buddy, the First Dog. But now Socks is living with that nice Secretary lady and Buddy is deceased. Life sucks. When asked what she would say if she could meet the former President, she replied "I'll sing him whatever he wants and in a corset too! By the way, when do I get paid for this?"

Re: OT: Ghoulish Portrait of Elizabeth at Big Box Store (in Ren Faire History Snobs) Yuppers. I have this. Lisa Carter gave it to me. When you push the button, her eyes glow red and creepy whispering comes out of the painting.

Re: NCRF (in Ren Faire History Snobs) I said that because that is where your question went. I just responded. You highlighted the appearance of an act as something that was wrong with your faire experience. Ergo, I assumed that was the benchmark you were using. If that was, then I... read more

My Blog

OK Cherie called me at work on Friday and told me it wouldn’t be out until Saturday and what time do I get dressed? Gack! She said she would be there by 9am. Now I’m not a nervous nelly, OK yes I am, but I shot my mouth off all over cyber space so wearing the old gown just wasn’t an option if at all possible.

I think others were more worried than I am. I was only a tad freaked because Cherie has never let me down before, has never been late and I knew she wanted it out on Opening as mu... read more

O My Fuckin God.

That is all I can really say. This new gown is beyond amazing (and I have only seen the skirts at a fitting last night). Nothing like this has been done in the nation that I am aware of (and it is still evolving). I am really not exaggerating but if you think I am, come on down to Casa and judge for yourself. The entire gown is hand embroidered by me. Overskirt and bodice – that is 17 ft of fabric. Cherie has encrusted the gown with so many jewels it is going to ta... read more

Alright, I am planning my dream vacation. M friends Kat & John have been and I have to so as well:

Thornbury Castle - www.thornburycastle.co.uk/

And here is what I want to do: www.thornburycastle.co.uk/speci...ks.asp only I would bring one of my Queen gowns instead of use their stuff because my stuff would be much better (and geeky).

And even if I went by myself, Kat assures me that for the dough this costs they would send someone to dress and undress me.... read more
