Friday July 25th The Lucky Road HOBO LUV Hop a freight train to Amnesia this friday, we'll be putting a nap sack on our back and pouring a bottle of booze down our gullet to hit a gypsy camp in celebration of Hobo Luv. As always we'll have live music, bellydance, burlesque, vaudeville, and a special guest DJ playing the best gypsy punk beats in town. GET LUCKY AT THE LUCKY ROAD. At our fire barrel this month is The Underskore Orkestra from Portland OR. After four years of getting tossed around in the back of a semi trailer, the Life-Sized version of the classic Rube Goldberg-esque children's board game has come home to San Francisco, and it?s badly in need of some maintenance. Gears must be re-geared, paint jobs must be re-painted; tours must be embarked upon; sexy mice must be kept safe from the evil cat ... and that enormous pumpkin / pile of bicycles / birthday cake / junked car isn't going to smash itself, so the handmade crane needs to be shored up to make sure the two-ton safe can still do it ... uh, safely. So! Mousetrap honcho MARK PEREZ and his madcap crew of clown-gineers invite you to share a special night of entertainment in the name of raising a few dollars. Though the ritzy red venue called AMNESIA on Valencia street proves way too tiny to host the Mousetrap's full square footage -- we said the sculpture travels in a tractor-trailer container, didn't we? -- you too can be a patron of the arts by dancin' to the music and knockin' a few back at Amnesia. Musical guests SEAN LEE, the ONE MAN BANJO, THE SLOW POISONER, and ESMERELDA STRANGE (in a special appeariance from Austin, TX) will hold the crowd hostage with their quaintly zany compositions. Shakey-shakey burlesque dancers SISTER KATE get German with it. Emcee DAVID APOCALYPSE -- the seasoned sideshow king whose last two injuries resulted from an upside-down straitjacket malfunction and a failed Cirkus Redickuless human-cannon-firing mishap, respectively -- will wrangle the throngs, carny-style, and astound all comers with his Oddity Museum. Day one(thursday)- drive, drive, drive day two(friday)- drive, drive, the CAN CAN- awsome dinner caberet in Seattle with Cabagazam day three(saturday)- work shop, work shop, show, show, show- we got to perform at THE coolest speak eazy ever. mark got to be our body guard for real- he did have to punch out a creepy stalker dude... day four(sunday)- one more workshop, real dinner, comp tickets to modest mouse at the paramount theater- soooo beautiful! day five(monday)- a few of us had some privates with local lovelies and we got our shop on, just a little... day six- today we are heading out to olympia for the next round- seattle has been great, can't wait to come back!

1. i used to have a friend named Heather, then she tagged me. no really i love heather, she's amaizing and gorgous and i really respect her, and i could go on, and on about her. 2. i live in a barn, well it's really a boat building building but it looks like a barn. 3. when i was a kid i wore a pink tutu for an entire year, over corderoy pants, over my oshkosh b'gosh overalls, over everything. 4. i'm a rodeo clown, bike rodeo that is. that means sometimes when i go on tour i get paid in beer to put on clown makeup and throw pies at unsuspecting rubes. www.cyclecide.com i also get to be a lifesize mouse and a zombie girl scout on a regular basis. 5. i know how to knit. scarves mostly... 6. i drink pickle juice straight out tha jar 7. my closet is the biggest room in the house, well it might not be the biggest room but it's bigger than the kitchen and it definatly has the most stuff in it 8. i don't watch television ok so now it's my turn to be an a-hole tagged- 1. Rose Harden teaches Ultra Gypsy Belly Dance Thursdays 6-7:30 pm La Solea Dance Cafe 3376 19th St @ Mission San Francisco This is a new dance space and there is no sign or banner on the building but i'll be there, enter through the cafe door. Parking can be a bit difficult so if you're driving(the studio is 3 blocks from bart) plan extra time, see you there! Classes are $12 drop in This exciting class begins with a warm up focusing on building flexability and targeted muscle group conditioning to enhance your practice. We will then move on to belly dance drills and combos with an emphasis on technique, musicality, alignment and fun! This class will cover basic breakdown for beginners as well as refinements for more advanced dancers. Come experience the Ultra Gypsy instructional format that has influenced dancers the world over. Ultra Gypsy is currently reinventing the controversial art of belly dance with our use of narrative, exquisite technique and infectious personality. Ultra Gypsy has been one of the Bay Area's premiere dance troupes since it's foundation in 1996. Zagareet Magazine's readers honored Ultra Gypsy with an award for Best Troupe and Jill Parker for Best Instructor 2005. Rose Harden currently performs and teaches with Ultra Gypsy through out the United States and Europe. Rose also performs with the Cyclecide Bike Rodeo and The Lifesize Mousetrap. Her background in dance and movement includes Afro-Haitian, Brazilian, Afro-Arabic, West African, Contemporary dance, Hip-hop, Fire dance, Pilates, Yoga, and multiple Middle Eastern dance forms. She has danced with Ultra Gypsy since 1999 and is an accredited teacher in the Jill Parker format.

what a weekend, florida is a strange place. it was the weirdest thing to walk down the beach in the middle of the night and see a huge strip, vacant but lit up like day. i'm so glad to have gotten such a great response to the skirts i've been making, it's encouraging. i still feel a bit out of it from the flying and i'm sad i didn't get any time in the sun(except those 5 minutes while waiting for the cab to the airport) but that's kind of how it always is...

less than a month till our 10 year anniversary kick off show, Undulation. in the past 7 days i've had 6 rehersals, whew. the work is amaizing, so beautiful. we're really pushing our abilitys in a piece choreographed by the incredably tallented Mira betz, i feel myself growing as a dancer, it's good.
