Re: PURE KC?
(in Great Plains Bellydance)
Yes, I agree and having been in the SCA, another volunteer organization, a lot of people won't commit to helping until they are at the event. Still, knowing there's a person in charge of different duties is a big mental relief for the organizer. A...

I love Sahra. I had a workshop with her a few years back in Sedalia and I would love to take another one.

about me
I belong to 2 Belly Dance troops in KC where I dance and drum. I'm married to a hunk of a man and have 2 beautiful boys.I sell ethnic Jewelry for a living and travel around doing Ren Fairs and SCA events. Some people think of me as a Gypsy, but I own a house and I feel like that disqualifies me. Although I've always wanted a gypsy wagon,hmm...

Layla, the Goddess of Jewelry!! The woman who provides us with such beauty to adorn ourselves!! And wait, she can dance too!! Her lyrical style is entrancing, her movements with the sword empowering, her friendship with the rhythm inspiring, and her dance is grace and beauty. May she always shine brighter than the fire she dances before.

I had the honor to meet Layla at several workshops and this is one fun girl. My favorite vendor by far but so much fun and spunk! A great dancer who knows how to get down and let loose! Can't wait to see you every time.

Layla is a graceful, intelligent dancer with a lovely smile and a great sense of style.

Layla's da bomb! Talented, fun, beautiful, warm and has GREAT taste. She is one of a kind.
June 23, 2005
Layla's hotter than Georgia asphalt...but....she smells better....most of the time ;) She is a dear friend, a driving creative force in the circle I've come to know and love, and my own personal muse! Anyone who can choreograph to JunoReactor AND sew in a relatively straight line rocks my socks.....and she gives us toast! :)
For everyone that got the million Bollywood posts I apologize. Every time I hit the publish button it sent me to an error page. I have been cursed by technology lately.
By the way, the workshop is Sat the 19th. Thanks Belle for pointing that out. I ove you all please orgive me. Layla from the loony bin.

It snowed for the first time this Fall. We were supposed to only get 1-2 inches but it snowed 10!!! So I didn't go to work. We barely got my oldest son home. The van is at the bottom of the hill. That was when it had only snowed a little bit yesterday at 11:30 in the morning. You'd think that Kansas Citians would be used to snowy conditions. We are. We just aren't used to single digit tempratures. I don't care what anyone thinks. When it's this cold out I don't want to go outside. I did let t...

Went and saw this Gypsy punk band last night. It was one of the best shows I've seen in a long time. Not only was it good music but good enertainment. I don't think I've every seen someone pass a giant bass drum out on to the audience then climb on top of it and beat it while the audience was supporting both the drum and the singer on top. Can't say enough good things about these performers. They are a must see just for the energy level they emit.

The first weekend of fest is over, six more to go. I remember when I used to look forward to it and get all excited at the prospect of it starting. Does too much of a good thing become bad? I can't imagine making my living any other way but it just doesn't compare to an SCA event. Now it seems like 7 weekends of a messy house and stacked up dirty dishes.
I got a real part time job for the first time in 8 years. I don't see how people sit on their butts in front of a computer 8 hours a day....

This year was kinda strange. I wasn't excited about going for the first time ever. Then when I got there I had such a blast I didn't want to come home. Well, at least back to mundania. The weather was great. Sells were better than usual considering the high price of gas. Most importantly, I reconnected with a lot of friends and had a great time hanging out with people. I also feel more mentally stimulated than I have in a long time. I think people get sucked into everyday life so much that th...
