about me
I really love life. That said, I'm kind of a weirdo. I like listening to the music, wearing the clothes, eating the food and doing the things that excite me and make me feel good. They're not always the things that I wish excited me and made me feel good, but I enjoy being in the present moment and wondering at the mystery that is myself. I am really interested in meeting new people here in Portland. Although I am very independent, and love to be alone (with myself), I would like to meet some people that are both interesting, comfortable, and challenging (in that "it helps you grow" kind of way) to be with.
My latest interest is the Goth scene. I've never lived in a "big" city before, so to see places such as Noir or Dante's or events like Convergence 13 and various Fetish Nights where hordes of peculiar and stylish fiends of all types assemble, is quite enthralling and thrilling to me. Whew, that was one hellov-a breathless sentence. I'm having fun with this child-like awe and admiration. I'm also having fun feeling like I'm being swept into it.
Over all, I guess I'm supposed to be a musician. I have been playing the cello for the better part of my life, and I've been loving playing the cello for many years dispersed throughout my life. Right now I love it. I moved to Portland with my band Strangers Die Everyday to set up a new musical headquarters that could better support our desire to tour and be in a city that has more of a space for our style of music (which is sometimes described as "chamber rock" or "soundscape"). Not to mention having an adventure living out of the ol' home state of Colorado for the first time. It's been 9 months so far, and all is well. We've got an album coming out September 10th with TGT (This Generation Tapes) out of LA, and we're planning a national tour with Lisa Papineau later in September.
I'm really into making things with my hands. Art projects of all kinds make me really happy. Lately I've been creating a lot of reusable collage envelopes and stationary out of reused materials. I LOVE sending letters. I also love receiving them.
Please, ask me questions if you have any. I like questions.

The New Practice Space

Last night was Strangers Die Everyday's first rehearsal in our new practice space.
Not only is it a dingy, poorly lit warehouse of musical inspiration, it also comes complete with a giant conveyer-belt up to the second floor that's too sketch...

In another dimension, the child does not die. A man grows with the roots of primal thunder creeping up his spine. When it rains, he is moved; possessed, he is the skin stretched over rhythm.
Out of deep water eyes the voice of a siren summons you. Like pain so lovely it confuses tears, each breath breaths notes.
The bass asked me to dance, pulling me as I ...

Not only is it a dingy, poorly lit warehouse of musical inspiration, it also comes complete with a giant conveyer-belt up to the second floor that's too sketchy to use for anything other than an ammusing, and slightly terrifying ride.
I think I'm in love.
From the black and white checkered lanolium flooring in the hallway to the 70's short crop rainbow print carpet in the room itself, I feel at home an...
