I WON!
I actually won two prizes this week :o) The first in a raffle - an introductory bellydance lesson that I had donated to the raffle (typical!), and amazingly, a real proper prize... a ticket to the Bellydance Congress at Bognor! I still can't believe it!!! Blimey! anyone else going?

Costume Making Workshops
I'm really excited planning my next venture - a series of 4 belly dance costume making workshops for next year. I used to teach Creative Embroidery, and I'm really looking forward to teaching some textile stuff again.

I'm planning 4 weekends:
January: Skirts & Bloomers (ie Harem Pants) & Basic Sewing skills
February: Tribal/Fusion hip belts & tassels, including dyeing fabrics and threads
March: Choli tops & Bra tops
May: Headdresses & Accessories

Current inspiration
Hey
I thought I'd share some of what I'm working on right now. I'm doing an art and design foundation at college, as well as teaching belly dance classes. I'm really excited by a project that I'm doing at college where I'm looking at sacred dance and ceremonial costume. In particular, I'm looking at Buddhist figures call dakinis, who symbolise enlightenment in the form of liberated female energy, and tribal/fusion bellydance.
