What do you think of when you hear a nightingale?
For me, it brings back memories from past summers. It draws me to the present and pulls me towards the future.
In its trills and chirpings, croaks and calls, I hear the sound of a hanging light humming in the sweltering heat of a summer night...throwing its trembling light on a chess game.
Its song consistent and diverse, it awakens memories of nights I laid awake in my bed, like tonight: hearing my sister's breath - steady and deep - as if to speak of periwinkle dreams of morning dew and crystal spiderwebs.
My own breathing slow and soft...beats flowing under the gale's sweet melody.
I hear the quiet tension of my room restful release of the day's energy
It reminds me that I've lived many songs and will live more. This is only one melody, one moment of my song.
