My 3 things

   Fri, June 27, 2008 - 11:24 AM
Rules: Post 3 things you've done that you believe nobody else on your F-list has done.
Indulge in remorse if someone calls you out on a listed item.

1) Had one of the Giant's players drop every stitch of clothing he was wearing right in front of me while I was trying to interview him in the PacBell Park locker room. Okay, I was impressed!

2) Chatted over coffee with Olivia Newton John. Brief but lovely.

3) Wandered around the graveyard that Benjamin Franklin is buried in, on July 4th, 1976, wearing an 18th century dress and cap - was crouched down behind a grave marker reading the name, and when I popped up, I damn near scared a woman to death who hadn't seen me up until that moment.

Extra Credit #4) Got within 100ft of His Coolness, the Dalai Lama, while doing prostrations on the floor of the Graham Auditorium (don't ask what's down there ... let's just say I didn't do the FULL spectrum of kneeling, etc.)

So, was the giant doing it to impress you, or merely to change clothes? Which Giant, and did he live up to his team name? :-)

I never actually got his name ... leave it to say that the interview was ... um ... diverted. Randy Winn was being a gentleman and waved at me so that I could come join the group around him. He was laughing. He could afford to, he had been the man of the game! Now if he had dropped trow ...
Hmmm ... how to say this politely ... the nameless man was an superior example of athletic excellence.
My evening (arguable the whole week) was made.
On purpose? Possibly.

I might cancel out your extra credit, since I came within 10 ft. of the Dalai Lama as he was walking down the Boardwalk in Santa Cruz once. He may have been on his way to the beach, but I think he was going to buy some salt-water taffy (he was headed in that direction).

I say you should get half-credit because he was involved in monkish behavior when you saw him.

Judges?

Coffee with Olivia Newton-John, however, is incredibly cool.

Olivia was VERY cool - and extremely unpretentious. Lasted about 2 minutes but it was memorable.
