What the hell am I doing?!?
a couple of weekends ago here in Port A. There were folks from all over the south part of the TX coast but not many in my division of women's longboarding. It was my first contest and i was a little nervous. I had a great cheering section complete with local students and i think it payed off... I took first! I didn't surf as well as i had hoped but plan to enter the next one down the coast a bit. Crazy thing is that this one win qualified me for state. weird...

The service for my former student was today. It was really tough to say the least. The pastor was great though. He told us not to lie to ourselves, face what happened, and learn from it. I can't imagine losing a friend that way when I'm only 16-19. The kids are really shaken and I'm glad that I could be there for them. I totally broke as they all passed by his coffin...the pain was so raw and visible.

We got word today that a former high school student died of an overdose. As far as we know it was Xanex. He was only 17 and dropped out his freshman year. I used to surf with this kid and many of our current students hung out with him. I am so deeply saddened by this and it's making me really think about life and how fragile it is. Keep this kid in your thoughts and pray that there is a light somewhere in this horrible tragedy.

So how you feelin'? I'm feelin' fine....Day 3 of some sweet winter swell is moving through here. Started out with some over head high and now it's down to about chest. Super clean and glassy...I have been watching the sun set from in the water. It turns it all different colors from purple to orange to pink. It's really trippy...I love my new board and I feel like there isn't much I can't catch on it. Thanks to Mama Ocean for giving me the lift...she loves her children.
