postmodernism strikes again, an excursus (blog entry) A class on Habermas can only mean that the postmodern heads pop their heads from their cavernous subterrenean tunnels for a short while, spew some completely (un)under(stand)ab(le) nonesense, fill their terms with parantheses, and then go on plott... read more

The good news and the beer news (blog entry) Hey folks,
Good news, bad news jokes. I'll spare you.
Apparently I got over my snoring problem, or so I'm told. This will not last, especially since it has been pointed out.
I've also gotten over my Democritus paper and course with a satisfac... read more

the joy of snoring (blog entry) I've recently taken to snoring, or so I'm told. Snoring is a taboo, an aesthetic crime and apparently a health hazard, obstructing air flow to the lungs during sleep. Or so they say. Snoring, my friends, is a relaxing, rhythmic activities, an a... read more

Democritus and all that jazz (blog entry) A triumphant return from Oil Country yesterday led to a day at the office today. We headed off to lupper at an up-and-coming vegetarian restaurant, 'Bonnys'. I have nothing good to say about Bonnys. The food was mediocre, the portions small, the service was okay but marred by an unfortunate cooking incompentency. This vegetarian eatery is there as an image: ... read more

A class on Habermas can only mean that the postmodern heads pop their heads from their cavernous subterrenean tunnels for a short while, spew some completely (un)under(stand)ab(le) nonesense, fill their terms with parantheses, and then go on plotting, not being quite sure of what themselves, again.
Alas.
Wisely (or perhaps not so wisely; this is a game difficult to win) I decided to focus in my presentation on the personage H recognizes as the father of the modernity problem--Hegel. Now ... read more

Good news, bad news jokes. I'll spare you.
Apparently I got over my snoring problem, or so I'm told. This will not last, especially since it has been pointed out.
I've also gotten over my Democritus paper and course with a satisfactory result.
I also spilled beer on some guy at the Manx. This was a terrible embarrasment, and with Trainspotting still fresh in my mind I dreaded immediately a violent response. Forunately the guy was, as my partner put it, 'the right guy to spi... read more

I've recently taken to snoring, or so I'm told. Snoring is a taboo, an aesthetic crime and apparently a health hazard, obstructing air flow to the lungs during sleep. Or so they say. Snoring, my friends, is a relaxing, rhythmic activities, an adult's lullaby. It is also, contrary to protestations, also a soothing sound to other sleepers surrounding the snorer.
Social pressures cannot deter us snorers. A milestone in every adult male's life should be recognized for the pround rite that i... read more

A triumphant return from Oil Country yesterday led to a day at the office today. I am affected even by relatively short flights and time differences, so I technically woke up at 5am today (or not technically, whichever). Now I am sitting at work, awaiting a call from three amigos who will be kind enough to take over my apartment for the next few days.
R will make her triumphant return on Saturday morning after a stupid 12-hour journey (if she's lucky).
On the good-news front (additional ... read more
