I've met PEOPLE like that. Both are comedy gold.
So, the Haneys bought themselves a grill that complies with the HOA's abusive new rules. Other neighbors are adjusting as well.

For example, our neighbor Allan has complied with the no skateboard/rollerblade/scooter/bicycle rule by launching his children down the street in office chairs. The former board member who started all this trouble is absolutely enraged. Mr. Haney bought neighbor Allan a six-pack of his beverage of choice.

Well, in honor of the new "No Charcoal Fire Within 10 Feet Of Any Permanent Structure" rule, Jeff procured this monster grill. It's gorgeous, and I love it.
