My Testimonials

December 6, 2006
Lane's a smart cookie. A really smart cookie. She's one of the few people who see the world the way I do. Since it's pretty random that's amazing. Lane also has this great passion for the dance and her smile shines wonderfully every time she does it. I'm happy to know Lane, and sad that I don't see her as often as I'd like. We could have many the philisophical ponderings Lane and I and it would be great!

Oh, Lane! Where to start . . . I love your strength, honesty, straight-forwardness and the fact that you are no BS! Those are some seriously amazing qualities I absolutely love, appreciate and admire in a person, especially a woman. You are great comedy relief. You have this totally goofy and child-like side that is so loveable. You can be serious, but I'm sure you'll never lose you sense of humor. I love knowing that I will never doubt where I stand with you. Oh my, yes, we MUST hang out more!

lane = tour de force

yes, one day she will take over the world and it will probably be sooner than later due to her organizational skills and determination. she will maintain this takeover with her excellent sense of humour, compassion and ability to give people a kick in the ass when they need it. i'm glad our paths crossed. live long and sparkly.

Capricorn to the core... when Firyal takes over the world (and she will), we'll all just have to live in it and do her bidding...

Luckily we'll be rewarded with delectable mangos, tribaret bling and as many bellydance videos as we can handle!

Always inspiring, always inspired -- I'm proud to call her my co-conspirator in dance.

Now! Back to the secret lab! Muhahahaha!

A bit of weird with a dash of inspiration, over a soup of organization and energy. One half Khivan - a bellydance duo that packs more punch than an episode of Superfriends.

Tis Done (blog entry) I am back to Burns as my official last name. It's my maiden name.

So forgive if anyone gets stuff with Reader or O'Connell on it still. It might take some time to get things changed over.

For so long, you've been watching them dance, taking workshops, going to shows. The Zafira Dance Company, Zaghareet's Troupe of the Year 2007, has something that just is undeniably awesome. How can each of us find that spark inside ourselves to unleash our own style, our own skill to create such masterpieces of dance?

Well, here is your time to find out!

Maria, Olivia and Christine will be heading straight from Tribal Revolution in Chicago to Milwaukee where, on Monday June 22nd and T... read more

So, last night I went to one of the greatest concerts I've been to. Bon Iver, led by a Wisconsin native who holed himself up into a cabin in northern Wisconsin in the winter and wrote some music. It's amazingly genuine and powerful.

The band is still small enough and new to the scene in such a way that is touching. They were playing to their biggest crowd ever, a sold out Pabst Theatre. They were so amazed to have that many people want to see them that they took photos of the crowd, ... read more

So, Pennsic #2 is down, and I had an awesome year. Awesome awesome. It just keeps getting better. The apres-pennsic moaning has begun, from wishing that Pennsic 38 were tomorrow, to belaboring dirty feet, to bringing up hackneyed topics about authenticity.

I find myself torn in a million different ways.

Make a better tent? Or make better costuming? Work on favors or work on lounge? What can I bring to the camp?

How much should I get involved in local SCA stuff? Should I b... read more

In memorial of a great year at Pennsic 37, I'm hosting the Pennsic Song Hour in this blog post. Please join me!

My contribution to the Pennsic Song Hour is as follows:

(to the tune of "O Give me a home")

Oh give me a fire,
where the drumming inspires,
and the dance space is full but not packed,
Where often is found,
varied rhythms that pound,
and no one has passed out or yacked.

Got any Pennsic songs to offer? (the cheesywurst song counts...whoever gets to that one first.)... read more
