Today is the National Day of Appreciation for Abortion Providers. In honor, set to speak to 1000 supporters at the Family Planning Advocates Conference was NY Governor Elliot Spitzer who introduced a bill last year (the Reproductive Health and Privacy Protection Act) that would declare abortion a protected, fundamental right for women. I felt like I needed to do something different, get out of the Humboldt Nation for awhile...I moved to Portland yesterday, driving through many displays of fireworks on the 5, feeling as independent as the day.
