2009/07 - Brasília - Arts Institute of UnB - @metric multidimensional essay: holofractal impromptu n.7

Experimental music and dance improvisation based on Koellreutter aesthetics notion of ametry and physics notions of multidimensionality, developed with support of Max/MSP virtual synthesizers (developed by John Bischoff and Eufrasio Prates, played by him and by Alex Sales) partially played by Nintendo Wiimotes fixed on the dancer's body (Elisa Teixeira) and, for a while, manipulated by audience. Holofractal Cyberpunk was a performance based on cyberpunk aesthetics, producing digital sounds (using FM Surfer virtual synthesizers, programmed on Max/MSP on John Bischoff patch) with the participation of the drummer Alex Sales and choreography and dance by Elisa Teixeira. This presentation was done after a speech of Fred Forest about the trends in Digital Art.

That's my presentation at the "post-happening Arte é Sex", performed wih the musician Beatriz Salles, at the building of the Instituto de Artes of the Universidade de Brasília in March/20, as a work for my doctorate course in Contemporary Art. The piece was composed with 2 Macbooks, each of them playing 2 virtual synths programmed (in Max/MSP) by me on the Bichoff's FM Surfer (you may download it at http://geocities.com/eufrasioprates/FMsurfer1.02.zip). It was part of a bigger installation called "IdAnce", from Suzete Venturelli and her research team. As you can see on the picture, the IdAnce projects lights on the ground according to the interactor movements and to the music. Lots of fun! In a short version (4 minutes), presented at the opening of my conference at the V International Congress of Semiotics in Venezuela, it were chosen the following hexagrams: 34.Ta chuang - O Poder do Grande 08.Pi - Manter-se Unido (Solidariedade) 31.Hsien - Influência (Cortejar) 19.Lin - Aproximação The subject of the conference was the notion of "transduction", which was applied to the triadic model taken from the Peircean Semiotics. I'd like to thank Dr. Rocco Mangieri and his wonderful team, whose invitation and competence made possible (and extremely pleasant) my participation in the best Congress of Semiotics held in Venezuela (which was my third). I will publish a picture as soon as possible.
