Back at WORK!!!!

Hello Gang, I'm back at work.. and thought I would do a little "catch up" here and let ya'll know what's been happening... In a big sweet nutshell.. Personal trials and family difficulties kept me from working effectively in 2007 - so now that THAT is all over.. It's time to roll up my sleeves and get back to work! Below is a brief rundown of the highlights of the recent past and the near future - check it out if you've got the time. ~ D I'm participating in Silcon Valley Open Studios in May 2008 - http://www.svos.org/artist.php?id=1753 For the past year and a half, my focus has been on jewelry rather than full costumes. I love that I have a sence of almost INSTANT gratification with jewelry. I'm the 2008 President of SF/BA MECDA - http://www.sfbamecda.org --- We've already had a great event -- Brought out Morocco of New York - check out the press --- http://www.gildedserpent.com/art43/hooverfeb08.htm Costumer's Notes is cooking again - I've added a blog there and we're going "old school" with .pdf style eZines coming down the pike. Prop 'til ya Drop - SF/BA MECDA Gala Show, Festival Dancing, Holiday Shopping and workshops with MESMERA

Hello Gang! As many of you know, I'm the current secretary of the Bay Area chapter of MECDA. We're currently working on our next event - "Prop 'til ya Drop" featuring Mesmera. Here are just a few of the details about the show. • Mesmera is teaching two workshops "Timing and Tempo for Creative Combos" and "Zambra Mesmera - Gypsy Belly Dance" - Workshops are $40 each, or $30 each for MECDA members - $75 for both, $55 for MECDA members. • Flowers of the Nile will be performing during our daytime Dance Festival - Sign-ups for dance slots - either tape or live music - began on Sunday Oct. 15, simply e-mail info@sfbamecda.org and specifiy tape or live. Sign-ups are first-come, first served. • Our Gala Show has a host of talented dance stars from as far north as Arcata Ca - Shoshanna performing with Veil - and San Diego with Jim Boz dancing with a drum. Each act features the use of one prop, and as guests confirm, we will be posting them on our website. • We've got 9 vendors coming to offer their wares in our Holiday Shopping Boutique! Once all our vendors confirm, we will be posting their names too! All-in-all the plans are coming along very well - and we're looking forward to an amazing show! BUT WHAT a lot of WORK! Hello Friends near and far... As some of you may know, I've spent the better part of the year struggling with an injury, and am pleased to say, I'm almost back on my feet again! During this time.. I've been watching a lot of videos - and am in the process of culling the collection of duplicates.. Reducing the volume down to my essential favorites. Hello Gang! In a quest to reduce the amount of "stuff" in my life by 30% -- I'm now cleaning my computer. In this moment of revisiting images, writings, and other cruft that accumulates over time. Years ago, I bought a copy of this magazine and had to share this image. What do you think of THAT costume on THAT figure - with that TITLE? Bumper Star - Packed? Gina Lollobrigida at her most statuesque in a costume from Soloman and Sheba from 1956. Not deleting THIS one!

A Post-Card to all my friends from my trip - This is Florence as viewed from the Piazza Michaelangelo with the Duomo and Palazzo del Vecchio - October 2005 Hello Gang! For years I resisted the urge to maintain a blog. I write for a living, I write A LOT, so why blog? However, it occured to me that this blog, in this public forum where I periodically participate, might bea good place to share some of my ongoing projects with my friends near and far. In my estimation, this is a great place to share images and inspirations. Although I have three websites in various stages of renovation, this is a fast, easy and immediate way of sharing projects, research and ideas that are in progress. So - in the month of January, 2006: 1 - I worked on recovering from a glorious two month trip to Italy, France and UK 2 - Was elected Secretary of SF/BA MECDA for 2006 (http://www.sfbamecda.org) 3 - Put in a lot of effort to the 2006 SF/BA MECDA show - Passages, A Journey Through Dance 4 - Have SOLD OUT of my first print run of Embellished Bras - that's more than 2500 copies!!!! 5 - I have pledged to work on ending the UFO Crisis!
