Two years ago I put a one gallon propane tank(and 5# abc extinguisher) on a backpack frame with a regulator. The hose fed 40psi propane to a staff of 1/2' copper. A 1/4' whistle valve feeds 3 feet of pipe that goes through an oil lamp I made. The tubular wick around the end of the copper pipe burns paraffin as the pilot light. It has worked well and been fun.
