'Everybody for me and myself for everybody.' Such is the incredible and audacious motto that this miniature beauty puts on her letter paper, emblazoned in a multitude of colours. We must not forget that she is one of the few high-class demireps who has enjoyed the advantage of a good education. She is a little lady, born in 1861; one of the daintiest little creatures in Paris, with a wasp-like waist that she contrives to make smaller still with tight lacing; a plump figure; charming features and a most candid, innocent manner of speaking. She pretends to be descended from her namesake, but what does that matter to our reader, on carnal thoughts intent? Who cares whether she be of blue blood or of humble birth, so long as she be good-natured, healthy, and lascivious? She is rather dear, being greatly in the fashion."
