Now I've Got Somthin' To Say...

Acceptance

Lately I've been trying to learn to accept my life for what it is. It seems as though I am always trying to change things to create some perfect situation. I suppose there's no harm in striving to improve things. But I really need to know when to "say when". It gets to a point when you have to surrender to your situation as it is. Accepting the karma that we are owed and not expecting what isn't due to us. Realizing that no matter how hard we try to control the situation, we are not in control. And learning to be grateful for what we do have.

This reminds me of the Serenity Prayer, which I think will be a good meditation.

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.
