Pandora is taking over this enormously gorgeous vaudeville theater and filling it with built burlesque - the freshest indie craft and design will be presented by its makers in the historic lobby. The beautifully restored theater itself will house a fashion presentation with live music and a theatrical twist: a storytime runway show at 8 & 10 pm.
Pandora is cooking up a fashion show turned on its head, a costumed storytime in high style. Drag performers and captured princesses mix with bad banker men and jeweled birds, set to viola, saw, and electronic music. Check out a fully produced stage show, performed to live music, and meet and greet with the clothing and costume geniuses behind it all. Buy the fashions that you see onstage off the rack, fresh from each designer's hot little hands.
Fashion designers in the floor show will include local design & performance powerhouses Bad Unkl Sista, Miss Velvet Cream, Medium Reality, Ghetto Goldilocks, and many more!! Wine by Patz & Hall, beer by Lagunitas.

Putting together a show like nobody's ever done before

What a funny feeling! Innovation is always dangerous, both to the status quo and to the innovator. So much could go wrong! You have to keep explaining what you are doing!

November 22nd Pandora's Trunk is going to be amazing. We are producing a runway show like nothing you've ever seen before - it's not just a series of talented designers, it's also a storytime fable narrated by a spooky awesome drag performer. December 4th will be that, x10.

Come on over!!

This fall and winter Pandora's Trunk is opening anew, letting loose a wandering group of designers. Like minstrels or troubadours, they are traveling from venue to venue with trunks and bins loaded full of clothing and secrets in equal measure. Events this fall will take indie arts to a whole new level, blending fashion runway, storytelling, drag performers, accordionists, chanteuses, clowns, musicians, fine art, functional objects. Indie arts producers will also be demonstrating, interacting, and showing their work.

Engaging performers, live music, free refreshments, indie arts & fashion sale. These shall be our watchwords. Check out the website to keep up to date on artists, performers, and mayhem.

More info on the June 14th Heavy Hearts party:

The Zine comes alive Saturday, June 14th at Space Gallery. The spotlight is on Heavy Hearts, a SF fashion team made up of Danielle DeRoberts of Onerary and Lara Grant of Reset (both also of the Pandora's Trunk collective). These ladies are known for their theatrical fashion shows and huge hearts. Danielle and Lara, along with several other local SF designers (also of Pandora's Trunk), will be showing their unique clothing lines as well as a few pieces made specifically for asiwouldsay! If you're down with independent fashion, you don't want to miss this. The runway show will go down twice during the course of the night, see below for details.

That's not all. The evening will also feature Ms.Natalie Gelman, a performer whose style is a synthesis of dance that draws from a diverse arena, ranging from the winding melodies of the middle east to the driving Afro Brazilian rhythms of Bahia. Talented musicians, Mark Machina, Derek Wright, Eric Hoffman, and Avshine will accompany her with strings and percussion.

As far as music is concerned, all the asiwouldsay family will be representing hard! The night starts with The Nothing, a talented producer and DJ, spinning a set of original music and featuring Darren "The Golden Horn" Reed on Trumpet. The zine mix will be put down as always by Moman and Chango Julius, this time around also featuring Maria Remos (aka The Songbird) and Dilcia Gonzalez. And last, but certainly not least, is the return of our resident roots & culture DJ, Stepwise, from his four month tour of South America!

Oh yea, AND it's an asiwouldsay art show featuring many amazing visual artists, AND there's free, good food!
Check the flyer.... www.asiwouldsay.com/flyers/A...xSide.gif

Funk n Trunk & Opel!

This week is a crazy week, and it's only monday! We are only three weeks away and counting down from Craft Con, the business conference I am hosting here in SF this April 4-6. Meanwhile I've been keeping busy by planning for these two good times:

Vessel, the Grant Building Designers and Nicole Presents...

Funk n' Trunk
Wed, March 19, 2008
5pm - 8pm

The Funk n' Trunk show is back after a one year hiatus! We're still featuring the best in local designs for men and women. We've moved our event to happy hour at Vessel, a brand new luxury boutique lounge in the heart of Union Square! Every 3rd Wednesday of the month, join us for a drink, order some gourmet hors d'oeuvres and see the most hip, fresh and innovative clothing designs, accessories and jewelry in San Francisco! Support your local designers. Cash and checks accepted. Full bar, food and drink specials. 5pm - 8pm, but you can stay for Vessel's club night afterward.

Vessel
85 Campton Place
betw Grant and Stockton, Post and Sutter

and

Opel VI
Saturday March 22nd
10pm-4am @ Temple
540 Howard & 2nd

www.opelproductions.com/archiv...237.php

The party: Opel was born from a desire to fuse the values of the intentional parties of the underground, with the talent and production assets of the overground. It was also designed to be a party infused with consciousness, in which the gathering is a vehicle to build community, plant seeds of hope and social change, and nudge us to look inward to grow and challenge our own pain and fear that prevents us from fully living. So it shall be.
