More info on the June 14th Heavy Hearts party:

The Zine comes alive Saturday, June 14th at Space Gallery. The spotlight is on Heavy Hearts, a SF fashion team made up of Danielle DeRoberts of Onerary and Lara Grant of Reset (both also of the Pandora's Trunk collective). These ladies are known for their theatrical fashion shows and huge hearts. Danielle and Lara, along with several other local SF designers (also of Pandora's Trunk), will be showing their unique clothing lines as well as a few pieces made specifically for asiwouldsay! If you're down with independent fashion, you don't want to miss this. The runway show will go down twice during the course of the night, see below for details.

That's not all. The evening will also feature Ms.Natalie Gelman, a performer whose style is a synthesis of dance that draws from a diverse arena, ranging from the winding melodies of the middle east to the driving Afro Brazilian rhythms of Bahia. Talented musicians, Mark Machina, Derek Wright, Eric Hoffman, and Avshine will accompany her with strings and percussion.

As far as music is concerned, all the asiwouldsay family will be representing hard! The night starts with The Nothing, a talented producer and DJ, spinning a set of original music and featuring Darren "The Golden Horn" Reed on Trumpet. The zine mix will be put down as always by Moman and Chango Julius, this time around also featuring Maria Remos (aka The Songbird) and Dilcia Gonzalez. And last, but certainly not least, is the return of our resident roots &amp; culture DJ, Stepwise, from his four month tour of South America!

Oh yea, AND it's an asiwouldsay art show featuring many amazing visual artists, AND there's free, good food!

The party: Opel was born from a desire to fuse the values of the intentional parties of the underground, with the talent and production assets of the overground. It was also designed to be a party infused with consciousness, in which the gathering is a vehicle to build community, plant seeds of hope and social change, and nudge us to look inward to grow and challenge our own pain and fear that prevents us from fully living. So it shall be.</div>

    </a>
										<div>This morning i woke up slowly to a silent house. Today was different than what has become usual - the last week is a fog of hauling myself weary out of early bed, slinging my overalls heavy with tools across my shoulders, and heading off towards the hardware store with two notebooks under my arm, plans buzzing in my head and the cell phone already ringing. Today I let myself sleep in. When I woke up, i fed the dog and we walked out into the sunny and strangely quiet day so i could buy a packet of tobacco and an ice cream sandwich. What a great holiday. What a great life.

This simple joy led me back, even in my momentary vacation state, to thinking about the American disease of plenty and the way we are all trained to seek out excess as a way of life. Seeking to sell my work and entering a world of commerce so fully has only served to sever me from the idea of monetary value. This is of value, this peace, this time. Everything else is just a dance, being clever.

We are throwing a party on Buy Nothing Day, also known in the retail industry as Black Friday - it's the single biggest shopping day of the year. We'll be installing artwork and stocking indie fashion into our newly constructed store (made out of almost all salvaged materials and elbow grease) and would love to show you our work and talk about the store - but if you want to buy something you'll have to come back Saturday. It's Buy Nothing Day!

It's a strange way to enter the retail community but we are excited about the effort.

It's amazing how fast the project has come together, and how many hands are now pitching in to heave forwards towards the opening. The list of things to be done never really ends but the list of loving acts of construction and kindness is growing to match.

Be well.

You may have been wondering to yourself, what's going on with the next Pandora's Trunk? Details ahoy! It's going to be an awesome co-production with cool dance party kids NK7 productions. I met Nicole doing volunteer work for Room to Read, I am looking forward to working with her again. I am excited to be a part of a big professional event like they put on, lots different than the normal Pandora fare. Variety is the spice of life! The most exciting part is that there will be a fashion show where members of the audience will model clothes that they've bought.

    </a>
										<div>Pigs have flown, hell has frozen over, and we are living in the other side of tomorrow. We are the chosen few, though, the bleeding edge of culture mutation as America's future pulls itself forward on the ones and zeros of the information age. This true binary runs our lives now, cold and hard within the veins of our machines. Embracing the bracing comfort of logic's implacability opens up the rich humor in drawing arbitrary black and white distinctions across real life's great shades of grey. Come out this weekend and celebrate the passage of a simplistic dualist worldview... through mockery.

Pandora's Trunk
Bi-monthly arts &amp; fashion showcase
http://pandorastrunk.com

Saturday June 30 2-7pm
Free admission - live music - free drinks
Mina Dresden Gallery
312 Valencia @ 14th

Pandora's Trunk Presents Versus
Take part in the eternal dualist battle between good and evil!

The audience will be the players in an all-encompassing game exploding the notion of the dark and light sides of life. We will all join together in playful and earnest celebration of life beyond a black-and-white worldview, playing with and against each other in a tipsy and joyful rendition of humanity's battle with itself. Artists from all parts of the spectrum will present to you their work in paint, fabric, metal, wood, string, spit, and bubblegum. Pick sides and put 'em up - talk the artists into selling you their work and go home with a pocket-sized unique souvenir of one little drunken corner of a revolution. Each transaction will grant you a pass to win or lose in the name of whichever side you are on. Don't worry - drinks and merriment are for winners and losers alike.

The art and fashion offerings will come in good and evil and all sizes, shapes and colors. Look out for ties, scarves, cowboy shirts, and jackets for boys and girls from Medium Reality. Miranda Caroligne will of course be there telling you snips and secrets from her upcoming Reconstruction Clothing for Dummies manual. Bad Unkl Sista, Fatima, Dida, Rose Pistola, Cotton Candie Stockings, Eion 2013 and more more more rounding out the fashion plate with clothing and accessories for your most delirious opium dream.

Ten painters will be hung in the gallery, exploding in color and form across the walls. Five more painters will bring you small works that will easily fit in your pocket (and your wallet) that day. Metallurge Casting is coming to showcase astounding and functional art-metal castings that you may have seen at Maker Faire. We are welcoming back sitar player John Arns, and of course handmade gourmet chocolates from Edible Love for your eating pleasure! Visit our website for a frequently updated roster of artists with pictures and links! Contact us to get involved.

I'll be giving away free tickets to Maker Faire at Maven Fair on May 12. Message me for details!</div>

Pandora's Trunk - drawing and goodies

    </a>
										<div>I am putting together some promotional packages for a free drawing at the upcoming Pandora's Trunk (http://pandorastrunk.com) - time cards from Stitch Lounge (http://stitchlounge.com, perfect for Burning man projects), swag from Make and Craft (box sets of Make magazine? Tickets to Maker Faire? You'll have to wait and see what they box up for me. I know I'm curious...) as well as some other local event tickets that I am working on, and various swag from our artists. The show is shaping up to be a real doozy. I stopped by Mina Dresden Gallery yesterday and took some final measurements. Magic Theatre's sponsorship is letting me bring in a little stage and some theatrical drapes, which I really think are going to transform the space. Got to get started painting banners...</div>

										<div>final call for artists
Pandora’s Trunk 1 year anniversary April 28th

The show has been filling up fast with a wide array of stunning artists, but we have been very selective to ensure as wide a range of work as possible. We have a couple of spots left for something refreshing and invite the community to dig up its mossy secret places for buried treasure, bringing it forth into the light of day. Please check out our website http://pandorastrunk.com, and you can find an application at http://pandorastrunk.com/contactinformation.htm. It’s very simple, don’t be afraid.
