about me
I'm tempted to try to woo and impress you by saying that I'm a burgeoning fire artist seeking the flow. That I'm an inspired club dancer who loves to FEEL the music. That I'm a spiritual seeker on the long road to understanding. That I'm a down-to-earth babe who could, if pressed, travel the world carrying nothing but a passport, a water bottle, and a good tube of SPF 18 lip balm.

Eventually, however, you would learn the truth, so I'll just go ahead and blow my own cover. I'm really an awkward, scared, fundamentally uncool farm kid from Iowa who's just inching her way along in this world.

My Blog

I marked another year today. Entered it softly, in the sunshine, in the company of good friends, without noise or ceremony.

A few months ago I debated with a friend the purpose of celebrating one's birthday. After a certain point, are we actually happy to be getting older? Methinks not. So, for adults, is it a day of pure selfishness: Are we just like little kids, still excited to be the center of attention and get presents? Is it all consumerism, a cultural prompt to spend and indul... read more

I don't fancy myself a blogger. With the exception of the postings of a few people who use the medium to truly enlighten and inform, most blogs strike me as ultimately examples of vanity and self-absorption. What makes the writers think the world wants to read their journals? And are any of the thoughts they share important or the things happening in their lives unique?

That said, I feel the need to chronicle. Because, in my own little self-absorbed world, big things are happening. La... read more
