about me
I can be reasonably summed up as follows: I'm 19, 5'8", normal body. I have a couple piercings (8 in total). My life is my art, my friends, music, books and I like to keep up on the "issues" of the day. When I'm not helping out in my dad's office or wasting time discontented in community college (trying to take classes while I take time off from real college), I grab coffee with friends, watch movies, cook for my roommates, draw, paint, sculpt, and I've really been trying to get back into my reading. For the most part I'm focusing on nonfiction these days. I love conspiracy theories, the occult, little-known-facts and philosophy. A lot of my philosphical reading has an emphasis on leftist and Maxist theory. In high school the only thing that kept me showing up was Comedy Sportz; a competitive improv team. I'm still trying to find a new troupe to join because it is a blast. I'd love to hear from anyone who has any leads! 6 months ago I moved up to Oakland to study Film and Illustration at California College of the Arts. I am living in LA again, spending more time on my art and managing the building I live in. ^_^ I play sitar, harmonica and jaw harp. I hike when I can, play with my pets , read (anything that doesn't move too quickly), spend time with my friends (I have a few close friends, many acquaintances and for the most part I'm an extremely social creature), write run-on sentences and generally enjoy myself thoroughly. I LOVE animals, to the extent that I won't eat them, haven't since I was 9, call me a pansy if you like. More recently I made the switch to vegan, but I don't impose my beliefs on others. I'll eat at restaurants that serve meat and likewise hang out with carnivores. I'm double-majoring in Illustration and Photography. I've been taking photos for about 2 years now, and I've been drawing and painting for as long as I can remember. My favourite artists are Edward Gorey, Sally Mann, Ralph Steadman and I also really enjoy Frank Miller's Sin City work. I'm working on a couple pieces right now. One of them is a Tarot Deck. I've been using photos I took of my friends for modeling. I'm about to start a piece called "8th Grade Photos." I'm going to simulate the school picture atmosphere, dress my models like awkward 13-year-olds and see where it takes me...
